Sexual molestation by Special Ed teacher from mid 80's

I hope I am putting this in the right place, if not feel free to move it. I am looking to find out what happen in this case.

Back when I was in middle school we had a special ed teacher named Mr. Gray. He was freindly and nice with everyone. One day on the way to school I heard he was on the run from the police. I remember seeing on the news that he was wanted in suspicion of molestation of one of his students. I have never heard anything about it since then but he never returned to the school. Below I will list what facts I do know, and what things I am pretty sure of. I have researched everything that I can think of but can not find any information on him. He is not listed on a sex offender registry that I can find and there is nothing in the dept of corrections on him. If anyone has any questions or suggestions please post. I have always wondered what happen with this. Thanks for any efforts.

Facts:
Race: White
Year of incident: 1984 - 1987
Crime: Molestation of a special ed student
School: Jane Macon Middle School
City of School: Brunswick Ga.

Pretty sure of:
Age: 50+ (1987 was 24 years ago. I remember mr gray was not a young teacher. If he is 50 that would put him at no younger than 26 when this happen. I am guessing he would have been 30 to 40 years old minimum when it happen)
Year of incident: I am pretty sure this happen sometime in 1985 or 1986
Victim: I am pretty sure this happen to a boy confined to a wheel chair who had the mentality of a child.

He could be in another state. I looked up Gray and Grey on a national registry and it's too much to wade through. By looking at pics, I can guess an age, but that national one doesn't give me conviction dates.

And that long ago, depending on the state, he may not have ever been on a registry. Archived news articles are a no go for me too. Most the hits have to do with priest molestation for some reason. Maybe it would show up pages and pages as you work your way back, but that's a lot of work and time. You'd have to find an article. Or, the judicial branch website. I don't know how far your state goes back to look up convictions, mine I think only goes to like 97 or something.

He could very well be deceased. Have you tried looking at that angle? Find a Grave might be difficult since you don't have a first name.

I get a bunch of this, but I have no way of knowing if it's him. If you really really want to know, you can find it online, it will just take some deep digging.

Sweet, really really cool. I really appreciate all the efforts others have put in. There are a few suggestions that I have not looked into such as the national registry and looking to see if I can find it in news archives. If I do find anything I will post what I find.

Eyes I have no idea, hair is thinning and greying from a darker brown. I believe he had a balding place on the top but I am not completely sure on that. He had a medium to thin build with no real characteristics that stick out in my mind.

Did your school do middle school yearbooks? Then maybe you could at least get a first name for him.

Yes they did. But I don't know how to get a copy of an old yearbook. I have tried looking that up for my high school but I have never been successful.

Old friends, siblings, public library in Brunswick. You could always try to find a teacher that's been there that long and see if they remember a first name for this guy.
