Mom and Grandmother Arrested for Attempted Murder of 6 Year-old Girl
SAVANNAH, Ga. --
Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said a mother and grandmother are charged with attempted murder of a special needs child.
Detectives were called to a home on Harden Street in January for a report of a malnourished child.
Doctors found the six year-old suffering from malnutrition, starvation and dehydration. They said the child has a genetic disorder and can't communicate, feed herself, or walk. When she was taken to the ER, police said she weighed 13 lbs. Authorities said she was in danger of dying.
The girl was being cared for by her mother, Lakisha Green, 33, and grandmother, Cassie Green, 51.
Detectives determined the women were letting the girl starve to death.
The girl is living with medical assistance.![]()
