Police say the body was found Thursday at a home on Jenkin's Run Road.
Troopers say they found the baby's body with a bag and something tying it around it's head inside the trash bag.
They say the child was killed the day it was born, which officials say was May 1.
They say the mother, 34-year-old Vicki Mae Hawks of Moorefield, had been hiding the pregnancy, but it had been revealed to the family that she had a potential plot to bury the baby at a family burial site.
"And that's what led the family members to investigate on their property where this potential burial plot or burial site might be, because they don't have one. When they looked for that, they found the trash bag concealing the infant's body," says Trooper 1st Class Charles Kessel, with the West Virginia State Police.
Hawks has been charged with murder for the child's death and is being held at the Potomac Highland's Regional Jail.
According to WVSP, Hawks has had seven previous children.

Thirty-four year old Vicki Hawks of Moorefield is lodged in the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail. Troopers say it was Hawks' mother who came to the State Police Detachment to report the shocking discovery.
"Of course the reaction was shocked," Trooper Charles Kessell told MetroNews Friday. "The discovery was based upon some conversations she had with friends and other family members."
Kessell says the remains of the baby were discovered in a trash bag and placed against an out-building on the family's property along Jenkins Run in Hardy County.
"Through statements and family statements revealed the suspect was indeed pregnant and delivered the baby on May 1st," said Kessell. "The baby was born alive and I'm calling it an intentional death at this point."
Kessell wouldn't reveal the cause of the child's death. He also would not reveal much about the statement given to troopers by Hawks, other than to say she confessed to having a role in the baby's death.
Kessell says nobody he's talked to was aware Hawks had even given birth until the infant’s body was discovered. He says Hawks did not go to the hospital, but would not reveal the reasons she failed to seek medical attention.
"There's just her indications and confessions to involvement in the child's death," said Kessell.

Why can't the figure out the people like this need to have their tubes TIED, CUT AND BURNED!!!!! There are so many families in this world who would love to have a baby and you have this DUMB thing popping babies out like rabbits and we, the taxpayers, are paying for them.
