This the second time Lynsey Vaughn's boyfriend was arrested since her baby got burned. This time, officers arrested the mother too, saying she put her children in danger.
A judge ordered Lynsey Vaughn's boyfriend Andrew Strohmeyer to stay away from her and her children, an action taken after Vaughn's one-year-old daughter ended up with second and third degree burns last May.
"A Child was burned pretty severely, second and third degree burns and an individual was arrested," said Lt. Jeff Duhamell, IMPD.
That individual was Andrew Strohmeyer. Police say last May he cared for Lynsey Vaughn's daughter on East Perry Street. The one-year-old suffered burns from hair relaxer chemicals. He reportedly left her alone in the bathtub for 15 minutes. Eventually her mother came home and rushed the child to the hospital.
"During that time of the investigation there was a no contact order issued between the mother and her boyfriend," said Lt. Jeff Duhamell.
But officers investigated a December 8th disturbance at a northeast apartment. They encountered Strohmeyer and Lynsey Vaughn together along with her two children. That violated the judge's orders for Strohmeyer to stay away.
When police came across Strohmeyer and Vaughn at Hunt Club Apartments, they arrested Strohmeyer right away and eventually Lynsey Vaughn.
"The mother has been arrested and the children were taken into protective custody," said Lt. Duhamell.
Lynsey Vaughn faces two counts of child neglect. Officers arrested Strohmeyer for violating the protective order. During that disturbance police also found evidence of drug use.
The judge set bond for Lynsey Vaughn at $20,000 and Andrew Strohmeyer's bond at $25,000. They both go to court in the next few days on their charges.
