Missing Tennessee Woman Holly Bobo, 20 Last Seen Being Dragged Into the Woods

The search will continue today for a missing Tennessee woman, in what might have been a home invasion and abduction.

Holly Bobo, 20, was home with her 25-year-old brother when the incident happened. Her brother reported seeing a man in camouflage clothing dragging his sister across the yard and into the woods nearby.

Bobo’s brother was inside the house and the kidnapping was outside in the rural area of small, modest homes about 100 miles northeast of Memphis, the TBI said. A spokeswoman would not give more details on what the brother told them.

A search began with 250 volunteers on Wednesday, but had to be called off do to fading light.

Bobo, who was going to school to be a licensed practical nurse, is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 110 pounds. She was last seen Wednesday morning wearing a pink shirt and light blue jeans. Bobo was taking classes at the university’s extension campus in Parsons, but was not a UT-Martin student.

Family friend David Ivey, whose son went to high school with Bobo, said the young woman has an “angelic voice” and loved to show it off in talent contests at school. She also would sing solos at Corinth Baptist Church where she was a member, he said.

It doesn't say if the brother went out and tried to do anything, like stop the abduction or whatever. I think I'd have at least given chase and maybe tried to get a tag number or something.

Maybe there will be more details later. She's a beautiful girl, but looks have nothing to do with my feelings. I just hope she's found safe.

Maybe it's cause he was in the house, and by the time he got outside, they'd already taken her?

They're not releasing much of what he said other than he was inside and she was outside.

A 20-year-old nursing student who was dragged from her home by a man in camouflage may have been abducted in a home invasion, it was revealed today.

Terrified Holly Bobo, from West Tennessee, was dragged across the carport from her family home towards a wooded area on Wednesday morning.

She is the cousin of country music star Whitney Duncan. Miss Duncan, 26, last night made an appeal for fans to pray for Holly's safe return.

'My cousin Holly was kidnapped this morning,' she wrote on Facebook. 'Please pray for her & our family. This is really sad & shocking.'

She tweeted: 'Lord have mercy. I feel like I'm walking in a nightmare. Thanks for all the prayers and please keep spreading the amber alert.'

Holly's 25-year-old brother witnessed the attack from inside the house. He described her attacker as a white male wearing camouflage clothing.

I've been watching this story. One of the articles I read, someone commented they had friends in that town who knew the family. Brother is a hunter, has a gun and surely would've done something but didn't realize right away that there was a problem (according to commenter). He heard raised voices, saw the guy and thought it was Holly's boyfriend whom she'd very recently split from. He saw them walking to the woods. When she didn't return after a while he became concerned and found blood outside by the carport , called 911. I believe 911 may have already been called by a neighbor who heard something.

Holly Bobo Update: New clues; brother didn't witness sister’s abduction

As new clues emerged Friday investigators announced Tennessee nursing student Holly Bobo’s brother did not witness her abduction and that he became suspicious and called 911 when he saw blood outside their home.

Online rumors spread quickly this week that Holly’s brother, 25-year-old Clint Bobo, sat back and did nothing while he witnessed a man dressed in camouflage clothing dragging his sister from their carport and into the woods.

Those rumors were quelled Friday when investigators reported Clint saw blood outside the home after seeing Holly talking with a man he believed was her boyfriend, not a stranger, as she was leaving for school Wednesday morning.

Investigators now say they believe Holly feared for her life and walked into the woods with her abductor.

John Mehr, an agent with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation told CBS affiliate WREG, “He actually had an arm holding her, so we feel that she knew that she was in fear of her life. So she was complying with his demands.”

“Right now we’re saying she walked away,” Mehr said. He declined to elaborate but officials said Holly’s mother also called 911.

MSNBC reports that investigators said they found Holly’s cell phone and camouflaged clothing in a vehicle nearly eight miles from Holly’s home. Her white lunch box, they say, was recovered from a creek in the area, police said.

After seeing the pain Holly’s parents are experiencing, and hearing their pleas for help during a press conference Thursday, people simply couldn’t stay away.

An operator at the Decatur Sheriff’s Department told Examiner.com Friday evening that their department is spread thin between searching for Holly and coping with some 1,500 volunteers that descended on their small town on Friday.

Why didn't they say that in the first place? Would have saved her poor brother quite a bit of villification and questioning of his manhood.

Also, how is the ex-boyfriend's alibi holding up. Does he have one? I am thinking that if the brother saw them together and thought it was the boyfriend it might well have been the boyfriend.....

The abductor is described as a white man about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds.

That is where I had the "ex" from; though of course that may be inaccurate. Holly isn't around to confirm or deny the split at the moment......

Holly Bobo Search: Hundreds of Volunteers Comb the Woods

Some 600 volunteers joined police Saturday, working until midnight to find any trace of the young woman, whose brother saw the abduction Wednesday, but only realized too late that the man leading her into the woods was not her boyfriend.

Investigators said that contrary to initial reports, Bobo was not dragged by a camouflaged kidnapper into a nearby woods but was instead led there because she was "in fear of her life."

She was confronted Wednesday by a man in hunting camouflage who forced her to go with him into the woods, Mehr said.

Her brother, said Mehr, "had reasons to believe [the man] was not an attacker," and did not call 911 until he saw blood outside.

The officer said that neither Bobo's brother nor her boyfriend were suspects. "We are confident of that," he said.

But police have no leads to the identity of Bobo's abductor.

"There is not a person of interest at this time," he said.
Investigators said they had found new pieces of evidence, including what Mehr called Bobo's "lunch purse," but would not specify where it was found.
They have found some evidence that is new and specific to the case," said Decatur County Mayor Michael Smith. The mayor called the newly discovered clues "very encouraging."

While refusing to discuss any other evidence, Mehr said reports that a car had been found containing Bobo's cell phone and some camouflage clothing were wrong.

Bobo's father said Thursday that he believed the man may have been someone who knew the young nursing student and knew the family's routines.

"It might have been somebody close, somebody that kind of knew our routine and when I left and when she left [his wife] and when my daughter left to go to school, is what I got in my mind," Dana Bobo said. "But I don't know what for sure."

Police said they are considering the same theory.

Body of Duct Taped Woman Found in Schuylkill River

The body of a young woman has just been discovered in the Schuylkill River of Pennsylvania. The woman's head and body was bound in duct tape and a handcuff dangled from her ankle. A cause of death isn't known yet as the body has just been pulled from the icy cold river in the East Coast region.

Sources indicate that the body is slightly decomposed and hasn't been identified yet, although speculations are arising that this body could be any one of the recently kidnapped teenagers in the region. This has an eerie tone to it, with the female being dumped in this manner. The handcuff on her ankle indicates that this girl was held captive at some point before her death.

This comes just a week after Holly Bobo was kidnapped from her own home by an unknown predator. She hasn't been found yet, but one of the items of evidence found in the searches include a strip of duct-tape with her hair on it. According to sources, the recovered body was that of a black woman. They say she was handcuffed and duct-taped.

Nadirah Ruffin was taken from her cousin’s Atlantic City home during a violent invasion on March 26.

I am with you! I pray she isn't suffering or being tortured, but I do pray she is alive!
The link I posted has a video, Atlantic City Investigators have already arrived there, so, Ms. Ruffin seems the more likely victim here. Which is terribly sad in itself, never heard about her until this......

From what I've been reading, the mother was at work and called 911 from there after her son called her. He called 911 from the home also.

If I can find a link, I'll bring it over, but I'm sure that's what I read.

I'm also getting a hinky feeling about the brother, for some reason. On one of the sites where I was reading, it says that he thought the camo guy was her boyfriend or ex-boyfriend and wasn't immediately alarmed until he found blood in the carport or garage or whatever they're calling it. This would explain why he didn't go running after them. It's also said that when he realized that Holly's car was still there at the house, he called her boyfriend to find out what they were up to and that's how he found out it wasn't the boyfriend that Holly had walked off with.

I'll try to find links. Honestly, I'm not making this stuff up off the top of my head. I did read it.... some place. Sorry.

AP) - Investigators looking into the abduction of a young nursing student are studying whether an attempted kidnapping three months ago about 40 miles away might be connected.

WSMV-TV reported Thursday that Heather Sullivan of Hickman County said a tall, skinny man in a gray hooded jacket grabbed her arm as she stepped out of her home. However, the glass top of a lamp she was holding fell and shattered, and the man ran away.

Sullivan called police, who searched the woods and found no one. Sullivan said she hasn't seen the man since.

Mark Gwyn, director of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, said authorities will look at all possibilities.

(CNN) -- Tennessee's top investigator said Monday that searchers have found an item that officials believe belonged to the 20-year-old nursing student who disappeared earlier this month.

Authorities have been looking for Holly Bobo since she vanished on April 14. Her brother told authorities he saw a man in camouflage leading her away from their home in the small town of Darden. The young woman was heading to nursing classes at the Tennessee Technology Center's Parsons campus at the time.

Mark Gwyn, director of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, said the item in question was being analyzed at a crime lab. He declined to say what exactly was found.

"Not only has it given the family hope, it's given the investigators hope. Anytime you find what you believe to be evidence from someone that's missing, it revives the search and the investigation," he said. "Hopefully this item will give us a huge piece of that puzzle."

An $80,000 reward -- which includes money from the state, local community and the Tennessee Sheriffs' Association -- has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the young woman's disappearance.

Boy, that's enlightning. The told us there was blood in the carport and then drop this teaser. I wonder if they are gunshy from all the wrongful info that came out when this broke.
