Kenia Monge Disappears From Nightclub, Cops Say Scenario 'Nightmare' *found deceased*

I dont see this ending well, reminds me of the beautiful girl in New York City couple years ago the bouncer killed

Police say they are "very concerned" about the safety of a 19-year-old woman who went to a Denver nightclub with friends and mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind her purse and cell phone but few clues.

Kenia Monge, a recent high school graduate, went to the 24K Lounge, a downtown Denver hot spot Saturday night, where a group of underage friends had been drinking. Her friends told police that she excused herself from the table to go to the restroom and never returned.

Monge was last seen several hours later at a Conoco gas station a few miles from the club at 3 a.m. Sunday, according to the Denver Police Department.

Police say the case is not a typical missing person investigation. Officials from the Denver Police Department have called in the FBI and Center for Missing and Exploited Children to help in the investigation, an indication that they do not believe Monge simply ran away.
We get lots of missing cases," said Denver Police spokesman Lt. Matthew Murray. "No one thinks this girl ran away. We have reason to believe that what took place is not good. We are very concerned."

For the family, he added, "this is a nightmare scenario."
As the first week following Monge's disappearance comes to a close, Murray said they're treating it as a missing person case but said "there is something different" about it. He would not say what made it so strange.

Monge's stepfather, Tony Lee, told ABC affiliate KMGH that a "good Samaritan" came forward and told police that he picked up the girl and was with her at the gas station early Sunday morning where she met and left with another man.

Police would not confirm that detail, or where the "good Samaritan" had found Monge to give her a ride, but Murray told ABCNews.com they were "talking with several key witnesses. We're working every lead."

Monge is 4 feet, 11 inches tall, and weighs 90 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black skirt, black blouse and high-heel boots.

Friday police found a body in a suburban Denver park, but Murray said it was not Monge, nor did it have anything to do with her case.

Missing Colo. woman's mother awaits word in case
DENVER — The mother of a 19-year-old woman who went missing from a downtown Denver nightclub a week ago anxiously awaited word about her daughter's whereabouts Friday as police said they were making the disappearance its top priority.

Kenia Monge (mon-hey') was seen at the 24K Lounge the night of March 31 and again at a gas station about two miles away at 3 a.m. on April 1, authorities said. KMGH-TV reported she left her purse and cellphone at the club.

Johnny Coast, the operations manager of the 24K Lounge, told KDVR-TV that Monge danced with a man for hours on March 31 and that staffers saw them leave together through a back door. Police spokesman Matt Murray declined to confirm that report, and wouldn't say whether the man had been interviewed. Coast did not return a message left by The Associated Press.

Monge's tearful mother, Maria Lee, spoke to a reporter at her home in suburban Aurora, saying Friday marked the eighth day since friends and family had spoken to Monge. She described her daughter as very sweet and friendly.

"I feel like they took my baby daughter, my heart, my soul, my everything," Lee said. "I feel like just running out of this house to go look for her, to find her. I'm so tired."

Officers don't know if Monge was the victim of a crime or if she deliberately dropped from sight, Murray said. Dozens of officers were conducting interviews and searching for clues both in and outside of Denver, and officers were scheduled to work on the case through the weekend, he said.

"Anybody who has been missing for as long as she's had, you would suspect they'd be in danger," Murray said. "With no contact with any of her friends and family, we have to be concerned."

The FBI Safe Streets Task Force and experts from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children were helping with the investigation.

This photo provided by the Denver Police Department shows Kenia Monge, 19, of Aurora, Colo., who went missing at the 24K Lounge in the area of 14th and Market Streets in downtown Denver last Friday. Police say Monge is 4 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 115 pounds. She was wearing a black skirt, black jacket and red high-heeled shoes. Police spokesman Matt Murray said Thursday, April 7, 2011, the disappearance of Kenia Monge is not a standard missing-person case. He wouldn't give details, saying the investigation is continuing. He says the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and experts from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are helping with the investigation

Such a tiny little thing. I hope they find her and she's ok, but it doesn't sound too good. Her family has to be just devastated.

Yeah thing is I am close to her size
I have an inch on her and if shes 115 then shes got about 10 lbs on me(says shes 4'11" and 90 lbs in one report and 115 in another,I am 5 foot nothing and 104)
And for some stupid caveman mentality men like to literally pick up small girls over the shoulder or whatever
So I know I have been picked up tossed over shoulders and carried outta places by hubby, friends etc
This girl being small also wouldnt stand a chance of a guy just grabbing her and carrying her off
Its so easy to do with "midgets" or puny girls

Boyfriend of missing Aurora teen not hopeful

DENVER -- Laith Essmaeil says his relationship with Kenia Monge was like many others. Typical date nights involved movies and dining out.

But it all came to an abrupt end on the morning of Friday, April 1 when Essmaeil says his live-in girlfriend of 6 months failed to return home from a night of partying with friends in lower downtown Denver.

“This is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through,” Essmaeil told us. “It’s overwhelming. It’s a lot to deal with. Anybody missing is just too much.”

The last confirmed sighting of Monge, 19, was at a Conoco gas station at Speer Blvd. and Pennsylvania Street - roughly two hours after she abandoned her friends at the 24K Lounge at Larimer Square, leaving through the back door with a man who she had been dancing with, a nightclub spokesperson said.

Denver Police have labeled the case as their "top priority" and continue to interview friends, family members, witnesses and downtown business owners in hopes of locating Monge, a recent Cherry Creek High School graduate.

While investigators have not ruled out the possibility that Monge is still alive, their search has included the banks of Cherry Creek, adjacent to the Conoco, and at least one landfill.

She is a very pretty, very tiny little lady. I'm sure this isn't going to end well.

This article was written April 14, 2011:

The whole scene didn't look right to Travis Forbes.

There was an attractive young woman across the street from a nightclub called the 24K Lounge. It was 2:30 a.m. April 1, and she was talking to a homeless man. Forbes talked with her, thought she was clearly drunk, and said he offered her a ride.

She eagerly jumped into his van.

"She was really emotional, really upset," Forbes said. The young woman was Kenia Monge, 19, who friends say vanished from a nightclub about 1 that morning.

But Forbes says he doesn't know what happened to Monge. He planned to give her a ride home but said he ultimately dropped her at a gas station when she asked to stop for cigarettes. Last time he saw her, she was walking away with another man as he drove away, Forbes said.

Forbes, 31, who said he got Monge's cellphone number from her that night, tried to call her later that morning. Then, he texted her to see if she was OK but never got a response.

Forbes, who spoke with The Denver Post a few days after Monge went missing, is the last person known to authorities to have seen her before she disappeared.

Forbes said he was out that night celebrating his sister's birthday downtown with his friend Eddie. On their way home, he spotted Monge wearing a hoodie and miniskirt.

When they approached her, Monge immediately wrapped her arms around theirs, he said. She had a thick accent. Monge was upset after splitting up with her boyfriend, Forbes said.

"She really didn't want to go home because she didn't want her dad to see her like this," Forbes said.

Forbes said he dropped his friend off at his house and was heading to Aurora when Monge saw a Conoco station at Speer Boulevard and Pennsylvania Street and said she needed a cigarette. When they got to the station, it was closed. Monge started crying again.

Forbes started to drive away when Monge spotted a man walking down the street smoking a cigarette. She asked Forbes to stop and, he said, she jumped out and ran over to the man, immediately putting her arm on his.

Forbes, who has a criminal record for assault, trespassing and theft, got back in his van and drove away as Monge and the stranger were walking together down the street, he said.

Denver police Lt. Matt Murray said detectives have interviewed Forbes as part of their investigation of Monge's disappearance.

"She really didn't want to go home because she didn't want her dad to see her like this," Forbes said.
Why would this guys say she didn't want her Dad to see her in like that if she lived with her boyfriend? Someone needs to talk to this guy a bit further.

She had just broken up with her boyfriend, she was probably staying at home with her dad.

Travis Forbes arrested for attempted murder, sex assault

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Travis Forbes, the self-described ‘suspect’ in the disappearance of an Aurora teenager, has been arrested in Fort Collins for allegedly assaulting a woman inside her apartment, and then setting the apartment on fire.

Forbes, 32, was taken into custody on July 10 for investigation of attempted first degree murder, sex assault, assault, arson and aggravated motor vehicle theft, officials confirmed.
According to Fort Collins Police spokeswoman Rita Davis, Forbes physically assaulted a 30-year-old woman inside her apartment at 1202 Pomona St. on July 5, just six days after he was released from jail in Jefferson County after unrelated motor vehicle theft charges were dropped.

The victim “jumped from a second-story bedroom window during a fire that investigators determined was intentionally set by the suspect,” said Davis.

“Forbes emerged as a person of interest in the investigation when officials learned late last week of his presence in the Fort Collins area.
[...]
Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said the Fort Collins case does not appear to be related to the still-unsolved case of Kenia Monge, 19, who disappeared April 1 after abandoning friends at a lower downtown Denver nightclub.

Forbes admits he gave an “intoxicated” Monge a ride to a Denver gas station where -he claims- she left with another man.

Later that day, Forbes was caught on camera wheeling in a large cooler wrapped in duct tape into the bakery he leased. The video also shows Forbes shutting off the surveillance system, while wearing latex gloves up to his elbows.

A nearby business owner reported seeing someone who matched Forbes description burning something in a 55 gallon barrel behind the bakery.

Kerry Humphrey Admits Lying to Protect Boyfriend -- and Kenia Monge's Murderer

Kerry Humphrey
On April 1, 2011, nineteen-year-old Kenia Monge disappeared -- and she remained missing until September, when Travis Forbes, who originally portrayed himself as a good Samaritan, led authorities to her body outside Keenesberg. Forbes pleaded guilty shortly thereafter -- but it wasn't until this week that his girlfriend, Kerry Humphrey, did likewise, admitting that she lied to give him an alibi.

An affidavit for Humphrey's arrest, on view below, offers the details for her falsehoods, and many of Forbes's. The document notes Monge's disappearance after a night of clubbing, as well as the discovery that her purse, cell phone and keys had been left at the venue in question, 24K.

Stored in the phone was a text message that read, "Hey this is Travis, the guy who gave you a ride last night, - white creepy van." That was followed by a smiley face symbol and the question "did you get home okay?"

After seeing that text message, Anthony Lee, Monge's father, contacted Forbes, who met with him accompanied by a pal, Edward Fajardo. At that time, Forbes offered an account of the evening that he also shared with police. He and Fajardo took a very intoxicated Monge to Club Lavish, on Market Street, to retrieve her car, he said, but they couldn't find it -- so he offered to drive her home. Before they arrived, though, they stopped at a Conoco to get cigarettes, only to discover that the station was closed. Monge then saw a man, identified only as "Dan," smoking nearby and bummed a cigarette. Shortly thereafter, he continued, Monge walked off with Dan -- and that was the last time he saw her.

The report points out that Forbes told Lee, "I wish I knew more about what happened to your daughter, but I told you everything I know" -- lines delivered with tears welling in his eyes and evident emotion in his voice.

During a subsequent interview, Forbes claimed that he'd arrived at the home of his girlfriend, Humphrey, at after 3 a.m. on April 1 and split at approximately 8:30 a.m. -- information that was confirmed by Humphrey during her own sit-down. She told a detective that she hadn't gone out with Forbes on the evening of March 31, but she saw him upon his arrival at 3:30 a.m. She recalled him saying something about a "fun night."

In addition, Humphrey parroted the story Forbes had already told officers about what had happened in his exchange with Monge.

How believable was this tale? Not very -- especially after cell phone records revealed that Forbes was nowhere close to Humphrey's home between the hours of 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. on April 1.

This information prompted another chat with Humphrey, who stuck with her previous claims -- at least until she was shown phone records noting Forbes's GPS coordinates, which proved she wasn't telling the truth.

At that point, the affidavit catalogs a change in tune, with Humphrey revealing that Forbes asked her to lie about his whereabouts that night. First he told her he'd slept in his van, which might not sound convincing to investigators searching for Monge. Later, he claimed he'd been on a "marijuana run" -- a no-no since he was on probation.

Humphrey told cops she never asked Forbes why he'd asked her to lie for him -- but she'll be living with the consequences of doing so for quite some time to come. She pleaded guilty to one count apiece of attempting to influence a public official and perjury, plus two counts of false reporting to authorities, earning 2,000 hours of community service and up to two years in Denver County Jail.

Forbes, for his part, will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Humphrey told cops she never asked Forbes why he'd asked her to lie for him
If that was the case; why this:

First he told her he'd slept in his van, which might not sound convincing to investigators searching for Monge. Later, he claimed he'd been on a "marijuana run" -- a no-no since he was on probation.
Both perfectly understandable reasons to ask her to lie, if not particularly good. She needn't actually have known she was alibi-ing him for murder.
