Ashley Couch Threw A Snowball, If By "Snowball" One Means "18-Day-Old Baby"

    http://www.startribune.com/local/117472298.html

A mother hurled her 18-day-old baby girl into a snowbank in south Minneapolis Saturday morning, horrified witnesses told police.

The 21-year-old mother was arrested and is expected to face charges of child neglect and endangerment, said Minneapolis police spokesman Sgt. William Palmer.

    (...)

The infant, who was wearing only a T-shirt and a blanket in 16-degree weather, was treated for exposure at Hennepin County Medical Center. She was to be released to protective custody after her condition stabilized.

    (...)

Witness E. Mandell said the woman threw the baby into the snow "like a major league pitcher in the windup for a fastball. I didn't believe at first it was a baby because no one in their right mind is gonna do that."

All this because of --you guessed it-- a fight with her penis.

. . . a 21-year-old woman and a man were in a domestic dispute shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday when the man fled and the woman followed with the couple's baby.

About a block away, the woman threw the child into the snow on the Chicago Avenue bridge that goes over Interstate 94 in Minneapolis.

A witness getting off a bus called 911 and picked up the infant. The mother then snatched the baby from the good samaritan but police shortly arrived to take custody of the infant.

The baby was not injured from being tossed in the snow, but was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center due to exposure to 16 degree temperatures. With the wind chill, it was just 2 degrees. The baby was in a blanket and just a T-shirt at the time. . . .

Officers arrested Deontae, Devon Ray Thurmond, 19, on domestic assault charges and Ashley Renee Couch, 21, on a count of child neglect.

So, she dresses her baby inadequately to chase after her man, gets fed up about the load (?) and throws the baby into a snow bank, then gets all remorseful and grabs the baby from someone who cares enough to intervene. Charming girl.

When my son was 18 days old, I felt like she looks (and looked worse I'm sure) but nothing in creation could have made me throw my son into a snowbank. New motherhood is a strain to say the least but this bitch has no business with a goldfish, let alone a child. 18 MFing days and 2 degrees outside. She'll probably get parenting classes and her baby girl back too.

Mpls. Mom to be Sentenced for Throwing Baby in Snowbank

Ashley Couch, 21, accepted a plea deal, admitting to child endangerment and neglect charges. Police say Couch was upset with the father of her 18-day-old baby girl, chased him down in the street, then tossed the child in the snowbank March 5.

A witness found the baby. She was taken to the hospital and treated for hypothermia and has fully recovered.

Couch will be sentenced on May 12.

Wonder what kind of sentence she'll get? I hope it's enough that she maybe thinks twice if she ever has a child to do that to again.

Bad judgment?? Is that what we are calling attempted murder now? I made a bad judgement when I placed my then soon to be 5 year old in kinder when he wasn't ready. Now that is bad judgment, you fuckers. People make me ill, and coupled with stupidity, makes me fucking homicidal.

A Minneapolis woman who admitted throwing her newborn into a snowbank on a freezing March day failed to show up for sentencing Thursday.

An arrest warrant remains active for Ashley Renee Couch, 21, who pleaded guilty in April in Hennepin County District Court to child endangerment and neglect, a gross misdemeanor. In exchange for her plea, a second gross misdemeanor count of child neglect was dismissed.

Under terms of the deal, Couch agreed to serve three months in jail, with another nine months stayed for two years.
    [...]

The baby is now in foster care.

Couch had served part of her anticipated sentence when she posted $3,000 bail April 18 under a number of conditions, including that she not contact the baby's father. Couch allegedly violated that condition. District Judge David Duffy ordered a revocation of conditional release last month and reset her bail at $6,000.

Couch also is the subject of an arrest warrant stemming from a family court matter.

Couch's attorney, William "Butch" Selman, asked Duffy for more time to try to reach his client. Duffy refused the request.

Since she violated the terms of the deal and failed to show up for sentencing, I hope the judge will reinstate the dropped charges and raise her sentence to years instead of months.
