Antoinette Newsome was using drugs up until baby's birth, baby died after birth

More details are coming out about the 32-year-old Ocean Springs woman charged with killing her newborn baby through drugs.

Antoinette Newsome had her initial appearance in Jackson County Tuesday. According to investigators, the mother of two gave birth to a baby boy this past Tuesday. The child died two hours and 20 minutes later.

Investigators said Newsome was reportedly using cocaine, as well as other drugs, leading up to the birth, which caused the baby's heart to stop working.

Last year, Newsome was arrested for drug possession in the county. Investigators said she also has an arrest warrant in Georgia on an unrelated drug related issue. She is charged with culpable Manslaughter in this case

"It is very disheartening in this case, having a child who hasn't even begun to have his life yet. And it is being taken away because of the negligence of his mother," said investigator Chad Heck. "His mother, knowing she was pregnant and continuing to still use crack cocaine, and shoot up pills, and use other drugs. It is very disheartening."

Newsome was out on bond for the drug charge in December, but her bond was revoked Tuesday. The judge set a $250,000 bond for this Manslaughter charge.

So a year before this she had a drug offence. I'd like to know how long ago last year that was, shouldn't she have been on probation or something and if she was, they should have noticed she was pregnant and had a court order for her to go into rehab or something.

So she kills one kid, and she already has TWO. So not only is she a murderer but it's clear she didn't give a fuck about her other two kids. It's so sad that women like this go and have kid after kid and pawn them off on family members or the state. I know she is a drug addict, but seriously if she really even gave ONE fuck (not two) about her kids she would've tried to get help, but she didn't and now this innocent little baby is dead. I really hope she goes to jail for a long time.

Yep. Most pills are designed to disintegrate in the digestive tract, although some are or at least were designed to be dissolved and injected. The common bulking agents just pass on through the digestive tract as indigestible material, but they don't necessarily remain in solution in the blood stream. And I don't know if they will be filtered out by either the kidneys or the liver.
