MOUNT VERNON, IN (WFIE) – A Mt. Vernon baby is dead, and the father is in jail.
On Monday, police say Timothy Alexander Lear called police his home in Green Valley Apartments because his baby boy wasn't breathing.
Officers tell 14 News that Lear was watching his son while the baby's mom worked.
The baby, Bryson James Clardy, was taken to two different local hospitals for treatment.
He was pronounced dead the Deaconess Gateway late Monday night.
The Warrick County coroner performed the autopsy and ruled the death a homicide.
The coroner said at a press conference that Bryson died of blunt force trauma.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Bryson had a fractured upper arm, brain swelling and multiple other bruises.
A doctor noted in the report that the injuries could have been sustained from violent shaking.
The coroner also told 14 News that there was trauma on multiple parts of his body.
Last night, Lear was arrested on a preliminary charge of murder.
On Thursday, he was officially charged with murder, neglect of dependant resulting in death, and battery resulting in death.
