Police said a 17-year-old was taken into custody Sunday after a 9-year-old girl was found dead this weekend in a Todd County, Ky., field.
The juvenile has been charged with murder and resisting arrest after Amy R. Dye, 9, was found dead in a field early Saturday morning.
KSP officers responded to the scene on Dogwood Lane near Lester Chapel Road between Trenton and Guthrie late Friday night, according to Recke.
Recke said he received a call from Todd County Sheriff's deputies at 10:20 p.m. Friday requesting assistance with a missing person's report for the girl.
On Saturday, at about 12:21 a.m., KSP was contacted by Todd County officials, advising that the child had been located and was dead.
At about 3:30 a.m., Todd County deputies drove a man and woman to Trenton City Hall for questioning. Police would not identify them, however they confirmed they questioned family members, which they said is routine for a homicide investigation.
The victim's family told Channel 4 that the child was adopted by her aunt.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Spring Creek Baptist Church, 2760 Trenton Rd., Clarksville,Tenn. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service.
