The Angelina County Sheriff's Office arrested a Lufkin man Monday after he allegedly
attacked his estranged wife and kept her on her bed for a whole night after he became angry with her for not returning 20 missed calls while she was at church.
Baron Lee Washington, 55, is charged with aggravated assault.
According to an arrest affidavit, Washington's wife told a deputy with the sheriff's office that her husband, who she was separated with for several months, had been in the hospital and she had offered to let him stay at her house to recover. On Sunday, the wife took Washington to his mother's house while she went to church in Nacogdoches.
After church, the wife said she had 20 missed calls from Washington. She had put the phone in silent mode during the service. She returned his call and he asked if she could pick him up to get his medication out of her house.
On the way to her house, the wife said Washington became upset and asked why she did not return his calls and when they arrived at her house, he pulled all the telephones out of the wall and threw her on the bed and began choking her.
The wife said Washington would not let her leave the bed all night and choked her several times throughout the night. He also held a knife to her face and threatened to kill her and dump her body in Houston, using her vehicle.
Monday morning, the wife said she told Washington she had to be at work and convinced him to let her leave.
