A 62-year-old man is accused of raiding his 23-year-old neighbor’s panty drawer to satisfy a fetish, according to a Holmes Beach Police Department report.
Ernest Kendler, 62, posted a $10,000 bond Monday after police found two pairs of panties in his home -- a black pair of Victoria’s Secret hip huggers and a beige and pink pair -- that his 23-year-old neighbor said belong to her.
A sample of the 23-year-old woman’s DNA is being sent off to a Florida Department of Law Enforcement lab to see if her DNA matches to the panties. Results are still pending, according to the arrest report.
“Ernest Kendler is innocent,” said Mark Lipinski, a criminal defense attorney representing Kendler. “(He) looks forward to confronting and discrediting this evidence in court.”
The woman told police she and her 21-year-old sister are missing numerous pairs of panties from the last few years. She reported 23 pairs of panties she is missing to police and her sister reported 16 thong panties missing.
The laundry room is located between the two residences, according to reports.
The woman told police that on Nov. 6 she discovered a man, who she believes is Kendler, was in her sister’s bedroom going through the drawers bent over and heavily breathing, according to a search warrant. She said the intruder never turned around.
She startled him after she said, “Hello,” and he left without facing her, according to the report.
The woman told police she saw Kendler from her window a short time before the incident outside talking with another neighbor.
Kendler told police he was not in his neighbor’s house when he was interviewed.
The State Attorney’s Office filed an information charging Kendler with taking panties at least once, possibly numerous times, between Aug. 1, 2008 and Nov. 6
