TROY -- The Albany man who allegedly dumped a sealed box with a kitten inside a garbage heap in a Lansingburgh alley allegedly told police he thought he was doing the animal a favor.

Michael T. Walsh, 48, of 10 Woodbridge Drive, was arraigned Monday in City Court and pleaded not guilty to three counts of animal cruelty, misdemeanors under the state Agriculture and Markets law, for allegedly abandoning the feline last month.

Walsh's arrest followed a police investigation into how a gray kitten, now nicknamed "Jack in the Box," ended up in the trash in an alley between 109th and 110th streets and Third and Fourth avenues in the Lansingburgh neighborhood on Dec. 23. In his statement, Walsh said he left the animal just hours before it was found.

A woman walking a pit bull discovered the kitten, whose meows could be heard coming from the trash.

how the fuck does someone draw the conclusion they were 'doing the animal a favor' by sealing it inside a box and dumping it into the garbage heap? why not take it to a shelter? or better, TRY to find a home for it..ffs. stupid fuck >.<
