Toddler Critical after Father stabs her in the head in Sydney Australia

ONE week from now this child will turn two - if she lives that long.

The once-beaming toddler is fighting for her life in the intensive care unit of the Sydney Children's Hospital with horrific brain injuries.

Her father has been charged by police with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed his daughter in the head.

Her mother is crippled by grief. She says their relationship had been marred by violence and that she had a domestic violence order against him in Queensland banning him from going near her or their three young children.

There is a picture at the link. I don't know how to insert pictures. It's so heartbreaking to see her. It doesn't sound good for the little girls future.
    Praying for you darling.

I have been praying for this baby since yesterday when I learned of what had happened. These are from her Facebook page
and she was taken off the ventilator and is breathing on her own according to the updates on FB.

My god she's beautiful...he tried to kill an angel. I'm rather surprised they printed a picture with the wound...so terrible, what a monster to hurt this baby.

Her mother is crippled by grief. She says their relationship had been marred by violence and that she had a domestic violence order against him in Queensland banning him from going near her or their three young children.
Yet she said it was her own father who placed the girl into the care of her ex-partner, who remains in police custody following his arrest 10 days ago in the Wollongong area
What the hell? her father? did he lose his mind? man, I'd have his head for this.
They said tomorrow they will remover breathing tube to see if she can breath on her own.
The little girl's fate now rests with Community Services Minister Linda Burney, who has parental responsibility for her and is the only person permitted to decide whether to switch off her life support, if it comes to that.
Ms Burney's office said yesterday: "A decision would only be made after consultation with both parents and based on strict medical advice."
Today doctors will remove her oxygen tube to see if she can breathe on her own.
If she can, there is hope. If she cannot the tube will be restored and a heartbreaking decision will have to be made.
I hope the give her a bit of time even if she can't breath on her own. Children heal in amazing rates as
compared to adults....I wouldn't be so quick to call it done with this sweet one.

    Heal completely little one.

What in the living hell was this guy thinking? That the restraining order was hokum? That the father had a right to visit his kids? I bet he has some serious regrets about that decision.

Oh my, I was just viewing the facebook page. And looking at the pictures above and I'm even more shattered that when I posted this case.

Maddie is just the cutest little darling. God, I hope she heals completely!

The toddler allegedly attacked by her father at Unanderra earlier this month has turned a corner in the fight for her life. The girl, who remains in intensive care at Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick, was yesterday taken off her ventilator and is now able to breathe on her own with oxygen support.
The child suffered serious head injuries following the alleged attack on November 18. Her father has since been charged with attempted murder and wounding a person with the intention of causing grievous bodily harm and will appear before court in January.
    [...]
Yesterday, Minister for Community Services Linda Burney confirmed doctors had turned off the toddler's ventilator to ascertain if she could breathe unassisted. She said the youngster was now breathing on her own.
"This little girl remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital," Ms Burney said.
"Any future decisions about the girl's life support will only be made after consultation with both parents and based on strict medical advice."

I still don't understand why they have not named him but I also am not familiar with laws outside the US. I also don't know why the hell he would deserve to voice an opinion in regard to her care after what he did. Still praying for her, she does really have a long way to go yet.

Thanks for posting this Amy, I was going to look for an update earlier then got side tracked. I'm hoping the strong spirit in this
child will pull her through this ordeal.

The laws in the UK are most def. different than in the US on victims/perps. I understand protecting the victim but the baby killing assholes I could care the fuck less.

In Australia they usually don't release the name until after the court case when children are involved. And sometimes not at all. It is partly to aid in a 'fair trial' and also to protect the identity of the victim.

It takes a lot for me to cry. This story made me want to cry and brought tears to my eyes. Reading the stories on here make me hate humanity. The more I read of things like this, the more I am convinced that people like the father just need to die. No trial - just death.
I love my country - its the government that scares me.

on the facebook page it says little Maddie is in a stable condition now. Thank you Lord! No mention of how her future is looking, if there is permenant brain damage or anything. But she was able to poke her tongue out. Hoping and praying. Kids are truely amazing!
