22-year-old Rafael Trevino Is A Baby Killer

SAN ANTONIO -- 22-year-old Rafael Trevino is facing a capital murder charge for killing his 7-week-old baby girl, San Antonio Police say.

EMS was called to the Trevino home in the 10000 block of Medio Creek around 7 a.m. on Thursday.

The baby’s mom told detectives that when she woke up from her sleep, she discovered the child was not breathing.

After further investigation, it was determined the baby girl died from blunt force trauma to the head.

A 20-month-old child, as well as both parents, were home at the time.

The child’s mom will not be charged.

In the past two days, SAPD has arrested two young men for allegedly injuring or killing their babies.

Liliana was pronounced dead about 7 a.m. at the scene in the 10400 block of Medio Creek but at the time detectives did not find any signs of foul play or trauma.

An autopsy revealed signs of abuse, including a broken left clavicle and hemorrhages to the head, according to an arrest warrant affidavit for the child's father.
Rafael Trevino, 22, was arrested Friday and remained jailed Saturday on one charge of capital murder. His bail was set at $1 million, according to county records.

Trevino told investigators he became frustrated when the baby wouldn't stop crying and admitted to violently shaking the baby multiple times, according to the affidavit.

Trevino also said he accidentally dropped the baby while he was carrying her, the affidavit said.

In the evening, police arrested Matthew John Resendez, 19, in connection with injuries found on his 3-month-old son Holden."...baby Holden Resendez was brutally beaten. Baby Holden was taken off life support today.

The infant's father, Matthew John Resendez, 19, remained jailed Sunday on one count of capital murder. Bail has not yet been set.

The infant's skull was fractured, there was bleeding of the brain, bruising around the right eye and possible rib fractures, according to an arrest affidavit for Resendez.

Holden was hospitalized early Thursday after EMS and police were called to an apartment in the 17000 block of Henderson Pass on the city's North Side because the child was not breathing, said San Antonio police Sgt. Jim Cole.

The infant was taken to a nearby hospital but transferred via helicopter to University Hospital in what Cole described as “grave condition.”

Resendez told police, “I did hurt him,” adding the boy's head hit the wooden headboard when he was placed on the bed, the affidavit said.

Holden was the second child in two days to die from alleged abuse at the hands of a father.
