Alvin man arrested for allegedly assaulting 9-year-old girl while she slept

HOUSTON – Authorities arrested Saturday a man they say sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl.
Deputies with the Brazoria County’s Sheriff’s Office said Diamond Paul Croussaris, 37, was arrested around 2:00 p.m.
Croussaris allegedly raped a child while she slept.

After the assault was reported, detectives launched an extensive investigation and charged Croussaris with aggravated sexual assault of a child.
A warrant with a $40,000 bond was issued for his arrest.

Diamond Croussaris was close friends with the victim's family. The victim's mother said, "He's like my brother. I was raised with him. My mom died when I was 6, and his mom raised me, and he was my best friend."

She didn't want to be identified but told Local 2 her 9-year-old daughter revealed to her that she had been raped and sodomized by Croussaris on a number of occasions. Her mother said the most painful part was when she found out and had to take her little girl to the hospital.

According to court documents, the abuse started in mid-September. Croussaris, who has no criminal hstory, was staying with the family in their northwest Harris County trailer because he ran out of money and needed help. Shortly after he moved in, the abuse started. The victim said several times he climbed into her bed and raped her as she tried to sleep.
