Shelia Ealey, the baby's mother, is charged with murder but could face manslaughter or capital murder charges if the grand jury chooses to indict. There still hasn't been an official ruling as to the newborn's cause of death.

The case against Ealey was strengthened on July 8 when Madison County Coroner Alex Breeland said DNA tests confirmed Ealey was the mother of the newborn.Guest had said authorities believed the newborn was alive when someone disposed of him.

A Flora woman has been indicted on capital murder charges for the death of her newborn son.
The baby was stuffed inside a suitcase and left near a church this summer.

Shelia Ealey was initially charged with murder, but a Grand Jury upgraded the charge.

In court this morning she cried as her defense attorneys tried to keep her out on bail.

However, a judge decided to revoke her bond, and tonight she’s behind bars.

Two autopsies were done on the newborn.

They have not been able to determine the cause of death.

The question remains on whether the baby was a stillborn or alive before he was put in the suitcase.

The district attorney says he hasn’t decided whether to seek the death penalty if Ealey is convicted.
