Victim says she was tortured for 20 hours, a woman led attack

GLENDALE - Seeing her injuries would take your breath away. The skin on her face is peeling from where they ripped off the duct tape.
It was wrapped around my entire head," she said.
There is a big white cast on her arm. The bone under her right eye is broken.
The injuries that aren't as obvious reveal more about a crime Glendale Police say is as brutal as it is unexplainable.
The woman is in her mid 20s. She asked 9NEWS that we only identify her as Monique since her attackers have not been arrested.
When we met with her on Friday, she pulled down her sock to show us the deep welt that is starting to heal.
"That is from the duct tape wrapped around my ankles," she said.
It was so tight it broke into her skin.
Then she lifted her sweater. On her stomach; deep round burns - cigarette burns.
"I kept falling in and out of consciousness. In order to wake me up they would burn my stomach,"
Police have issued arrest warrants for three people accused of kidnapping and torturing the woman. The three suspects, 22-year-old Kalena Joeckel, a.k.a. Kalena Rodriguez, 22-year-old Kelly Mahana, a.k.a. Choice, and 19-year-old Jessica Ecsedy are considered to be extremely violent and police say they may also be armed.
The group had been out at a bar called Blondes near Santa Fe Drive and Hampden Avenue before the abduction and assault. Monique says she considered Joeckel a friend. She never considered she'd be in danger by socializing with her or any of her friends.
Police say the victim was kidnapped and taken to an apartment in the southern metro area. Once there, she was bound and gagged, blindfolded and beaten repeatedly for nearly 20 hours.
"I was just trying to get out of there. I was trying to talk to them and tell them whatever I could to convince them to let me go," Monique said.
It worked. Police say her abductors then released her.
According to police, there is no motive for the kidnapping or the assaults. Monique says she doesn't understand it either.
Police say Joeckel is 5 feet 9 inches tall, 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. She has tattoos on one of the fingers on her right hand, both ankles and on her left hand. Mahana is 6 feet 2 inches tall, 190 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo on both shoulders and on his back, and on his right arm and chest. Ecsedy is 5 feet 1 inch tall, 95 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. She has tattoos on both wrists.
Monique said, "I hope they get everything that is coming to them."

New suspect named in kidnapping, beating case

GLENDALE - Police have named a fourth suspect in the kidnapping and beating case of a woman last week, and the three previous suspects have been arrested and could now face charges of attempted murder.
Glendale Police say 21-year-old Justin Drake Wasinger is being sought in connection with the kidnapping and beating of a woman in her 20s who wished to be known only as Monique.
Police have already arrested three people accused of kidnapping and torturing the woman. The three suspects, 22-year-old Kalena Joeckel, a.k.a. Kalena Rodriguez, 22-year-old Kelly Mahana, a.k.a. Choice, and 19-year-old Jessica Ecsedy were arrested in California after they fled the state.
According to authorities, the three may now face upgraded charges of attempted murder.

WTF? It's nothing short of amazing that the victim is still alive. There has to be reason for this even if it is only that those freaks of nature just wanted to hurt somebody. Best wishes to Monique with her recovery. She has a mountain of psychological and physical damage to cope with.

Police: Suspect Abducted Woman, Tortured Her Nearly 20 Hours
GLENDALE, Colo. -- A fourth suspect has been arrested in the Glendale abduction of a woman who was tortured nearly 20 hours, police said Thursday.

Justin Drake Wasinger, 21, was arrested Wednesday without incident in Mesa, Ariz., by U.S. marshals, Glendale Police Chief Victor Ross said in a new release. He remains in custody in Arizona pending extradition to Colorado.
Glendale investigators had been working closely with the U.S. marshals' fugitive apprehension teams in Colorado and Arizona in the hunt for Wasinger, who was spotted in Tempe, Ariz., last weekend, Ross said.
"He has an extensive criminal history and we do consider him to be extremely violent and possibly armed as well," Ross said when Wasinger was still at large.

The victim was driving home, making her escape, when she got into a single-car crash in Sheridan, Ross said.

Sheridan police responded to the crash, saw the victim's significant injuries and heard the victim tell them what happened, and that's when they contacted Glendale police.
