Perhaps the little boy was 2nd degree murder because it was sparked by crying, therefore not technically premeditated; whereas he made more of a choice to then murder the little girl.

I forgot how much this case upset me until I revisited it today. What was up with the material they found in their airways? Did he put a towel over them while he drowned them so he didn't have to look at them? OMG, what a horrible thought. What a horrible story.

Father sentenced in drowning deaths of his two children

Steven Nicholson received life without parole on the first degree murder charge of his 15-month-old, daughter. Additionally he was sentenced to 315 months to 60 years on the second degree murder charge of his 13-month-old son plus an additional 1 to 15 years on the child abuse first degree charge.

An autopsy later found that they had drowned.
At the time of the children's deaths a neighbor told Action News that she has called the police on Nicholson a few months before because he left them in his van, alone and crying. Another neighbor said that Nicholson was mean and rude to the children.
Nicholson now faces life in prison.
The judge said today that he has come to the conclusion Ella was drowned on purpose to cover up Jonathans accidental drowning

They did have diff moms,he had custody of Jonathon and Ive never been 100% sure about Ella
He may have had joint custody of her

Nicholson had said the children turned on the water and got into the tub in his Allen Park apartment, southwest of Detroit, while he was asleep. Their bodies were found Oct. 19 after he made a middle-of-the-night call to 911.
But two medical examiners said their bodies were scalded after being drowned.
One medical examiner has said it was possible but unlikely that the children could have turned on the water and entered the bathtub.
A prosecutor called their deaths "torture."
