Tampa mom and boyfriend charged with turning kids' bedroom into marijuana grow house
TAMPA - A Tampa mom and her boyfriend turned their children's bedroom into a marijuana grow house, Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies said.

Rebecca Ewell and Eric Minick were both charged with possession of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for drug use, and manufacture of cannabis.

Deputies say they found over 10 pounds of pot in the two-story home. Some of it was growing in hydroponic pots in a closet. Some of it was bagged in the freezer. However, most disturbing to deputies were the large stalks of marijuana hanging from a light fixture to dry, over a baby's playpen.

Deputies say the playpen was used as a crib for a nine-month-old baby boy. "Obviously the environment they created by drying marijuana plants is not conducive to proper parenting," said Sheriff's Major Clyde Eisenberg. "We are investigating possible child neglect charges."

Deputies say a nine-year-old boy also slept in the room, on a mattress next to the playpen.
