EDMONTON - Police have charged an 18-year-old man with two counts of first-degree murder after two of his Cold Lake roommates were found slain.
Two men, one 21 and the other 27, died of gunshot wounds in their rural Cold Lake area home, according to the Medical Examiner.
Someone called police after noticing a suspicious person with a gun lurking around a rural home shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday, said Cold Lake RCMP.
Police responded, then diverted to another home about a kilometer away, say Mounties.
Two bodies were found at the home.
Police later arrested two men.
Brandon William Alexander Cruickshank, 18, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
He’s set to appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court Oct. 27.
The second man arrested is a witness to the crime, say RCMP. He’s been released from custody.
Police will comb the shooting scene over the weekend, said Sgt. Tim Taniguchi of RCMP K-Division.
More information on the case is expected early next week.
