Santa Fe Police discovered more than two and a half pounds of methamphetamine taped around a California man's ankles over the weekend.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reported the chain of events that led up to one of the city’s largest methamphetamine busts in recent history.

Police responded to a gas station Saturday evening after a bus driver called police asking that they remove 34-year-old Raul Rincon from the bus because he was “highly intoxicated and acting up.”

Officers successfully removed Rincon who was cooperative and willing to sober up before he caught another bus.

Officers offered Rincon a ride to another gas station where he could catch a later bus but explained they have to frisk him before letting him into the squad car.

Rincon agreed and during that frisk police discovered a bulge around his ankles. Those bulges turned out to be packages of meth.

Authorities estimate that the street value of those meth bulges would tally in at around $230,000.
