A Concord mother has been charged by the police with
failing to report that her 3-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted.
Tabatha Lamprey, 26, of Loudon was arrested earlier this month for failing to report abuse that prosecutors say happened in February at the Concord apartment of
Matthew Sanborn.
Sanborn, 26, was arrested this summer and indicted last month on charges
he had Lamprey's daughter perform oral sex on him and touch his penis.
The indictments, which describe incidents in February, also allege Sanborn
touched the girl's genitalia with his penis.
The police began investigating the abuse allegations in June after an anonymous caller contacted the state Division for Children, Youth, and Families and said that Sanborn had abused Lamprey's daughter and
confessed the abuse to Lamprey, according to a police affidavit.
When the police questioned Lamprey,
she told them she learned of the alleged assault from her daughter in February and then confronted Sanborn, according to the affidavit.
Sanborn initially denied the accusation but then confessed to Lamprey to
having "feelings" for the girl and having her touch his penis, according to the affidavit.
Sanborn told Lamprey it only happened once and blamed the incident on his medication, Lamprey told the police. She said
she stopped allowing Sanborn to be alone with the girl after the incident, according to the affidavit.
State law requires
anyone who suspects child abuse to report it to the authorities. Lamprey told the police
she reported the alleged assault to Sanborn's mother, according to the affidavit.
