Janessa Dorsey Allegedly Left 2yo & 9 Mth Old In Running Car In Front Of CPS Office

Woman Arrested For Leaving 2 Kids In Running Car
    PLANTATION
A woman was arrested after leaving two children inside a car Tuesday that was parked outside the Broward Sheriff's Office Child Protective Services office in Plantation, BSO said in a statement.

Two investigators spotted the car in the parking lot with the car's engine running and the doors unlocked. Inside a 2-year-old girl and 9-month-old boy were found at 359 N. State Road 7. Plantation officers arrested the adult in charge of the children identified as 22-year-old Janessa Shanda-Rae Dorsey, of Lauderdale Lakes.

The children did not have to travel far after that because Child Protective Services took them into custody.

Maybe that red in her hair is really blood? A head wound? She obviously has brain damage.

while I agree the mother was an idiot for leaving her kids in the car in front of CPS I also have to say I don't think she should have been arrested for it. If she only left the kids for a few minutes I don't think it was a big deal at all. I have been flamed for this before but I still don't think it is a problem if the car was running and the air was on and if she only ran in for a few minutes. Just my opinion.

You can't leave kids in a car nowadays period with all the creeps that there are out there
It makes it 100 times worse that the car was unlocked and running . This was also in front of CPS .. So she has had previous issues with watching, beating or neglecting her little ones and still hasn't learned shit .

There is the same amount of creeps nowadays as there were 30-50 years ago, we just hear about it more now because of our instant access to media reports. I do agree that leaving the car unlocked was really stupid but not criminal. And just because you got to CPS does not mean you have neglected or beat your kids. Here in GA you have to go there to apply for food stamps and other welfare too.

Then it shouldn't have been done years ago either . It's just too dangerous and why even take that risk or chance with your own kids .
I do think child porn is more prevelant nowadays because of the instant access and sharing with cams and everything else so that makes the demand even that much more but that's just mho .
I'm not flaming though we just have different opinions .

Hmm it doesn't actually state if they are her own children or not.

This is South Florida. Plantation. I know this area. She should NOT have left kids in the car simply because it's not the office where you can just drop shit off and go quickly. It's a minimum 4 hour wait. And that's if you're lucky.

And DV, that's the fashion around here these days. It's pretty much every other dark haired girl that has it.

Two investigators who work at the Broward Sheriff's Child Protective Services office saw two children, ages 2 and nine months, alone in a car that was left running and called the state's child abuse hotline.

Plantation police soon after tracked down Janessa Shanda-Rea Dorsey, 21, of Lauderdale Lakes, determined that the children had been in her care and arrested her, officials said.

Under Florida law, leaving a child unattended in a running vehicle is a misdemeanor offense.

If they had to track her down, it is obvious that she didn't see the people who found the kids or the arrival of the cops. She was doing something more than run-in/run-out and the kids were out of her sight.

Even without the threat of "bad people", leaving a toddler in a running car is stupid. If they Houdinied their car seat, no telling what could happen.

When my son was about 8 months old, we took a trip to Wal Mart where I ended up filling my van. He fell asleep on our way back home, and I had to get gas because I was on E (I don't know why I didn't fill it on the way over to Wal Mart. . .) Anyway, I parked right in front of the gas station, got out, moved a lot of shit around to hide him, locked the doors, ran in and threw a twenty on the counter while I screamed running out "PUMP 2!". I was gone for about 14 seconds, and even though nothing happened to him, I still feel guilty because I don't know what could have happened in those 14 seconds.

Needless to say, my child has never been a car by himself for more than 14 seconds, NEVER with the car running, and sure as hell NEVER with the car unlocked. Definitely not right in front of the DHS office either. If you don't want to take them in, leave them with the babysitter. Although from all the stories on this site, I don't know if a babysitter is a good idea either.

A South Florida woman accused of leaving her kids alone in a car has bonded out of jail.

Police arrested Janessa Dorsey Tuesday and charged her with two counts of child neglect. Broward Sheriff's Office Deputies discovered her children all alone in a car, right in front of their offices in Plantation.

Deputies said the 2-year-old girl and 9-month-old boy were inside the car with the engine running and the doors unlocked.

The children are now in the custody of child protective services.

At least CPS didn't have far to go to get the kids...

When I was 2/3 my granddad was visiting and I somehow snuck out and crawled into his car
I thought his car was so neat b.c it was really old and had the crank to roll down the back window and I wanted the back window down
Well I shifted the gear into Reverse(not knowing how to or meaning to)
The car rolled down the driveway(was on a hill) and across a very busy street(couldve easily been t-boned)
And landed smashed into a front porch and car across the street
To me leaving a child alone in a parked car is a dare
Your saying to the world I dare you to try and grab them,I dare you to see if you can do it and with all the pedos out there its not worth the outcome
    Thats just my opinion
