Mother charged with abuse of child
A Magnolia woman faces felony child abuse charges after she allegedly attempted to circumcise her 1-year-old son at home on Friday, according to the Pike County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies arrested Ernestine Lavonda Col-lins, 26, 1014 Blackberry Lane, Friday at her residence.
She is being held in the Pike County jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.

According to reports, the deputies learned what happened after responding to a call from the residence for an ambulance. Authorities do not know who called the ambulance.

The child, who was not identified, was taken to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center and later transferred to a Jackson hospital, where he remained today.

The case remains under investigation.

Now how would you like to explain that to a boy when he was old enough to understand? "Mommy wanted to save money so she tried to do your circumcision herself. Sorry, but I didn't know what I was doing." I do hope she didn't maim him or cause him to bleed out.
