ANDALUSIA, Ala. (AP) - An Andalusia man is being held on $2 million bail after being charged with using a steam iron and bamboo walking cane to abuse his child.

Lt. Paul Dean says 48-year-old Jerry Cowan is jailed on charges of first-degree domestic violence and aggravated child abuse.
    [....]
Dean says the child's injuries indicated that numerous items were used.

A drug agent says Cowan also faces charges of chemical endangerment of a child, second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Whisper is the queen at fucked up stories, but I mean that as a compliment.

Wow, talk about brevity. Doesn't that reporter know about the 5 W's and the H? (Who, what, when, where, why, and how.) How old was the child? 3? 18? How long had the abuse been going on? What got him started? How was he turned in? What is the condition of the child? Who was ignoring the on-going abuse or remonstrating with the father but not acting? How many charges are they bringing and what are the likely consequences?
