A 25-year-old woman from Church Hill, Md., had been putting pamphlets about
Gary R. Biron, 41, in his neighbors' mailboxes. The woman, the daughter of Biron's girlfriend, had gotten the information from the Delaware sex-offender website, which is public. She was upset about an altercation that he had with her mother, police said.
The woman told police Biron confronted her, grabbing a pamphlet out of her hand and threatening to kill her. She told police he punched her in the face while holding a wrench in his other hand.
The victim told police she tried to call authorities but that he took her cell phone from her and threw it on the ground. She eventually was able to drive away from the scene and call police, authorities said.
Two troopers responded to the scene and tried to contact Biron. Police said they tried to arrest him in front of his home, but he ran. When a trooper caught up with him and tried to arrest him, Biron swung at him and missed. He then picked up a wooden chair and swung it at the trooper before throwing it at another officer, police said.
