Robert Brooks Thinks They're Making Too Much Of His Prank Calls

Eustis police say a man called 911 last month saying that he had killed his wife and that he was going to kill his baby.

Police took the call seriously and sent 35 officers, a helicopter, and SWAT teams, but it turned out to be a prank.

Investigators say Robert Brooks made the call that sent police to a neighbor’s house.

Brooks is also accused of pulled the same prank three different times to random addresses in Seminole County over the summer. Police had to lock down neighborhoods. Innocent people were also pulled out of their homes.

Brooks told WFTV from the Lake County jail that a mysterious friend, not him, made the prank the calls using a computer program.

Brooks says people are taking the situation too seriously.

“I understand that you have to take it to the extent, but they're making it too serious,” Brooks said.

I believe they call this sort of prank call "SWATTING". I have read of other pranksters doing this crap too. Great prank isn't? Using the taxpayers money and community resources to check out what the authorities have been told is a horrendous situation to only find out it is a freaking joke?! I am laughing my ass off! NOT!

He should be forced to pay for the salaries, time, and resources expended on his little "pranks". He should also be called out for every SWAT action so he can get up in the night and drop whatever he might be doing while running out on these call outs. Maybe a few "pranks" he's forced to witness will change his mind. And if anybody dies or is injured because the police force is busy somewhere else, he should be jailed for manslaughter.

I agree he should be charged for the time wasted following up on his little fantasies.
Hell, charge him double. Perhaps make it so he cannot use the phone for 6 months. Maybe he'll break his time getting over his little habit.
You don't call out SWAT on a whim. You also don't assemble 35 cops in a heartbeat.
This guy wasted a whole bunch of folks time because he was bored.
Take away his tv,stereo,computer and phone.
Apparently his parents never taught him what happens when you break the rules.

And by take away, I mean remove.

Gimme the stereo. I need a better one and he looks just nerdy enough to have state of the art.

Reminds me of being a kid and getting it into our mashed potatoe heads that "african-american" knockin on doors would be hilarious. Didnt get away with it cause my uncles retired police dog followed us everywhere at night. Peeps knew the dog. It was funny until we got our stupid ass whipped.
