A George man who authorities say spied on women employees in a bathroom where he worked has been sentenced in Lyon County District Court.
Fifty-five-year-old John Elias of George was accused of spying on women employees of Sanford Hospital, Rock Rapids through peepholes in an employee
bathroom. He was arrested by the Lyon County Sheriff's Office on December 27 on charges of invasion of privacy, third-degree theft, and tampering with evidence.
Sheriff Blythe Bloemendaal says Elias, who was a hospital employee at the time,
drilled two holes in a heating duct to spy on the women. When deputies installed a camera to catch the perpetrator, Elias
found it, stole it, destroyed it, and disposed of it in a dumpster in Sibley, according to the Sheriff.
Elias plead not guilty in February.
