On April 16, 2010, the Sheridan County Sheriff's Office received information from an informant that he had been involved in transporting and burying a body in the Big Horn Mountains. Several days later on April 19, the Sheriff's Office assisted a K-9 Search and Recovery cadaver dog team, and located partial human remains in an undisclosed location in the Big Horn Mountains. On June 10, 2010, additional remains were found within a half mile of that initial discovery, which has lead to a positive identification says Sheridan County Sheriff Dave Hofmeier.
Hofmeier explains that the delay in identifying the remains was due to the initial discovery in April.
The Sheriff stated that they had a pretty good idea of the identity of the remains back in April, but that they wanted to be 100% sure before notifying the relatives.
Hofmeier indicated that Christopher Husman had been reported as a missing person from Buffalo in October 2009.
