Must have been a helluva concert

Charles Haddon, frontman of electropop trio Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, leapt to his death from a telecommunications mast behind the main stage at the Pukkelpop festival, police in Belgium said.

The 22-year-old fell to the car park below and was pronounced dead late on Friday night.

The band, based in Camden, north London, had performed at the three-day festival in Hasselt, eastern Belgium, shortly before Haddon climbed up the mast.

Police are treating the death as suicide, district attorney Marc Rubens said.

Festival organisers said Haddon's family had been informed.

In a statement posted on their website, they said: "After performing with his band Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, singer Charles Haddon decided to take his own life.

"Our thoughts and sympathies go out to his family and friends."

That's not how to get rid of an unwanted band member.

That is exactly what I thought when I saw the group's name!

Group's name will now be "Le Swimming Pool N'est Pas Là-haut"

2 UK Pop Singers Die. Same Week, Same Festival

    .
BRUSSELS - The lead singer of a British pop trio climbed a telecommunications mast behind the main stage at a Belgian rock festival and leaped to his death in the parking lot below, police said Saturday.

Twenty-two-year-old Charles Haddon of Ou Est Le Swimming Pool died late Friday during the Pukkelpop festival in Hasselt, a town in eastern Belgium. District attorney Marc Rubens said police were treating the death as a suicide.

Festival organizers said Haddon's family has been notified.

On Thursday, Michael Been, frontman for the U.S. group The Call, died of an apparent heart attack at the same festival. The 60-year-old was working as the soundman for his son's band, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

British pop singer Charles Haddon committed suicide at a Belgian music festival late last night.

The front man of the elctro-pop band Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, jumped to his death from a telecommunications mast that was behind the main stage at the Pukklepop festival according to Belgian police. He fell to the car park below where he was pronounced dead. The band had finished playing at the festival not long before Haddon decided to jump.

A statement on the bands website said the following : "After performing with his band Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, singer Charles Haddon decided to take his own life. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to his family and friends."

Ou Est Le Swimming Pool were due to play at the Frequency festival in Austria tonight and were also due to start a tour in the UK upon their return.

The Pukklepop festival has had its share of tragedy this week as Michael Been, the 60-year-old front-man of American band The Call, died of an apparent heart attack on Thursday while working as a sound man for his son's band, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Haddon's death brings to light some questions about whether musicians really live a happy life. Some of them, obviously, are distressed as Haddon must have been. It's sad to think that he had so much life ahead of him and he decided to end it all before he could experience what life had to offer him. Hopefully, this isn't a growing trend. Will we see more musicians or even fans commit suicide while at concerts? Why is this seemingly such a big draw?

Wow, I wonder if drugs were involved. (sarcasm)

Semantics and subjection. All I know from the country singers I knew in Nashville was that time on the road is tough (for those who honestly love their girl and kids) and that time on the road is expensive (for those who don't)

I'm actually really sorry Been's obit is included with his

After watching nearly that whole video, I can understand the sadness.
Still, at least he took himself, didn't walk into the dressing room and kill all the band. That's a plus around here;)
