Brian Kloosterman is an abusive stay at home adopted father.

The nanny took videos. Good for her.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A Central Florida man was arrested and charged with child abuse Tuesday after the family's nanny accused him of physically harming several of his adopted children.

According to an Orlando Police Department report, the family nanny said she witnessed Brian Kloosterman snap one child in the face with his own underwear. The report also said the nanny witnessed Kloosterman push the child down on a bed with his full weight while the child was crying.

The report said Kloosterman, a stay-at-home father, threw an adopted son across a room. It also said that a child the family adopted about three weeks ago told the nanny "Daddy hits me," just three days after his adoption.

Although the nanny took video of some incidents, it has not yet been released.

When the nanny confronted Kloosterman, he vehemently denied any abuse. After an adopted son said Kloosterman threw him from the bathroom to his bed, the report said Kloosterman responded: "Let me guess; he said that I [threw] him." When the nanny asked him if this was true, he said, "Of course not."

The nanny, who worked for the family for about five months, said she was fired when she told the children's adopted mother, Stephanie Schreneier, that she would report the incidents.

What kind of person is a stay-at-home AND has a nanny? One who doesn't want to deal with kids.

    from the link:
The nanny, who worked for the family for about five months, said she was fired when she told the children's adopted mother, Stephanie Schreneier, that she would report the incidents.

Schreneier told the nanny she was fired because she was like all the other nannies, according to Kloosterman's charging affidavit. A prior nanny was fired in mid-March, after she also confronted Schreneier with allegations of abuse by Kloosterman.

    And the mother.

Eyewitness News was there as Dr. Stephanie Schreneier walked out of court. A judge ruled that she can only see her children during supervised visits and won't be able to regain custody of her children until she undergoes a psychiatric evaluation.

The mother should be arrested also! She admits at least 2 nanny's told her that he was abusing the kids. Her solution was to fire the nanny's and hire a new one?? WTF??:grrrrrr:

No kidding...guess the good doctor thought she would throw money at the problem and hope it went away. She probably wanted the kids, he didn't, and so goes the story...

    Update...the plot thickens.

    FOX 35 NEWS
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- A day after a father was arrested for child abuse questions still linger about what really went on inside a Delany Park home.

The questions surround two children, two nannies, two allegations of abuse and now two open investigations

Allegations of abuse by the father of five Brian Kloosterman first surfaced in 2007. The children’s mother Stephanie Schreneier, an Orange County pathologist became concerned and asked for advice about her children’s injures from Orange County medical examiner doctor Jan Garavaglia.

As a professional courtesy, Doctor Garavaglia said she wrote a letter that “it appears to be a non accidental injury, but there is no clear evidence when this occurred."

While the state attorney's office is continuing to investigate the 2007 incident, they are now struggling with the same issue after another investigation started Thursday.

The most recent case surfaced when a nanny alleged that Kloosterman physically abused a three year old boy the family has recently adopted.

Although he has not been charged in the 2007 case some are questioning why he was allowed to adopt another child.

"There are cases we have that there are suspicions that a child has been harmed,” said Department of Children and Family Services spokesperson Carrie Hoeppner. “But you don't have that evidence on how it happened or who did it and it can interfere with the intervention we might take."

With several adopted kids in the home Hoeppner admitted that DCF has some questions of their own. They want to know if the allegations surfaced before any of the adoptions were made. That would mean taking a very close look at a timeline, one they say they have not looked at yet.

DCF said the agency the kids were adopted through is called Celebrate Children out of Oviedo. We tried to talk to the agency Thursday. We were told the executive director was out until Friday. We have learned this agency does have to follow state guidelines that mean stringent background checks and well being checks before the children get there. There is so far no indication those things were not done. An investigation will make sure.

This BITCH wanted the freaking attention and empathy that came with telling all her colleagues and church family (I'm sure...) that they just had to "fill their home" with little children who needed them...

Asswipe dad just rode the gravy train...I'm SURE he had an "office" where he acted like he worked at home while the nanny took care of the kids...
    RIGHT...

These 2 both suck and there should be a freakin' registry for asswipes that don't DESERVE kids!

The kids are back home with a caregiver. The mother must be supervised around them and the father cannot see them at all. Guess he had to move out of their 1.6 million dollar home.
The wife is of course defending him and claims he is the primary caregiver for all the children. Really?? Silly me I thought thats what nanny's did.

    http://www.orlandosentinel.com/commu...,1438711.story

An Orlando doctor came to the defense of her husband Friday, saying his arrest on child-abuse charges threatens to tear apart the life the couple have created for their five young children, including four adoptees from Guatemala.

Brian Kloosterman "is a wonderful and dedicated father, a stay-at-home dad who could never intentionally hurt anyone," Dr. Stephanie Schreiner wrote in a statement released to the Orlando Sentinel.

Kloosterman's arrest on a child-abuse charge early Tuesday, hours after a nanny summoned Orlando police, was the second allegation of child abuse against the 33-year-old father in less than a year.

"The enormous stress of this 2007 investigation and the eight months of living under suspicion and unfair intrusion into their family life created considerable stress and took its toll on Brian," wrote lawyer Rajan Joshi of the NeJame, LaFay, Jancha, Barker and Joshi law firm, representing Kloosterman. "Even with this, he was the primary caregiver for his five children, ages 5 months through 3 and one half years."
Former nanny Cynthia Velez told Orlando police that while watching one of the surveillance monitors in the $1.6 million home, she spotted Kloosterman throwing underwear at his oldest son and then restraining the screaming child by pinning him to the bed, according to police reports. She taped the activity on the monitor using her cell phone and turned it over to police.

"The video is graphic, but also misleading," the statement read. "Brian never intentionally hurt his son. This is an isolated, one minute event that did not physically harm their little boy."

Kloosterman is a stay-at-home dad who raised the children in the family's 6,700-square-foot Delaney Park home while his wife works as a pathologist at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

    'He feels the pain'

"All of the children miss their father and he feels the pain of being separated from them," the statement said. The 3-year-old, the child Kloosterman is accused of abusing most recently, has been calling out for "his daddy," the parents said in the statement.

The children are back at home now, with a "caregiver," Joshi said. Schreiner must be supervised when around the children, and Kloosterman is forbidden from seeing them. He was released from jail on $1,000 bail Wednesday night and faces one charge of child abuse. If convicted, he could go to prison for up to five years.

On Wednesday, the family pediatrician examined all five children for signs of abuse and found they were in good health and uninjured, the parents said. Their 18-month-old daughter had a small cut on her shoulder, said Mark O'Mara, another lawyer representing Kloosterman.

    Girl's illness under review

This is the second time the couple are fighting to clear Kloosterman's name.

In August, health officials alerted the Department of Children and Families to possible abuse when the couple's newly adopted 9-month-old daughter was rushed to the hospital with a 106.8-degree temperature and a urinary-tract infection. The girl, who had only been with the family for a few weeks, was dehydrated and suffered a stroke, causing her to become slightly disabled. The parents said they did not cause this.

Law-enforcement and DCF officials began investigating whether Kloosterman shook the child and caused the injuries. DCF's investigation was closed after it found insufficient evidence.

Police turned the case over to the Orange-Osceola State Attorney's Office in January. Prosecutors are waiting for more information to determine what -- if any -- charges will be filed in that case, said spokeswoman Danielle Tavernier.

On Thursday, prosecutors received the second case from police. They will review both before making a charging decision, Tavernier said.

The couple's first child died five days after birth. Faced with the possibility of never having more biological children, the couple turned to adoption.

They would have had to undergo a home study and complete extensive paperwork that would allow them to adopt out of the country, according to Sue Hedberg, executive director of Celebrate Children International. The Oviedo agency, which specializes in international adoptions, would not confirm or deny whether the family used its services. But the family's attorneys on Friday identified it as the agency.

The couple first tried adopting in China, but it didn't work out. They then tried another agency, which helped them find children in Guatemala.

They brought home their first children, two infant boys, in early 2006. The experience was such a success, the couple traveled again to Guatemala and "fell in love" with two other children. In late 2006, the couple began the process that would add another boy and baby girl to their family.

"We are a very close couple who mutually support each other and want only the best for each of our children," Kloosterman said in the statement. "We turned to adoption and it's been a wonderful and challenging time."

While waiting for their baby girl to arrive in the U.S., Schreiner found out she was pregnant. Five months ago, she gave birth to a healthy girl, their fifth child.

Former nanny Alice Martin described Kloosterman as a loving father who engaged the children. She joined the family after the August incident, when a judge ordered Kloosterman to have only supervised contact with his children.

Martin contested what Velez, the family's most recent nanny, told police earlier this week about why she left the family. Martin denied ever seeing Kloosterman abuse the children and said she left on good terms in January because the family needed a Spanish-speaking nanny.

"Brian was always an attentive, normal, loving father," Martin said. "They don't fit the format of an abusive family."

I wish nanny Alice Martin would enlighten the world as to just what that is... would solve so many situations. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP...

I wonder how much they are paying her for her services (and silence).

Why and how where they allowed to adopt again just a few weeks ago? There was a previous report that was dropped only because there was not enough evidence, not because the allegations were found to be false.

Brian Kloosterman, 34, was charged Friday with child abuse -- a felony -- and contributing to the delinquency or dependency of a minor -- a misdemeanor -- over an incident involving one of his sons that prosecutors say happened May 5.
    ...
After the second allegation in May, the children were placed in protective custody. Marti Mackenzie [family spokesperson] said the family "is very close to reunification."

"After months of following all requirements and recommendations from DCF, including counseling, therapy and outside supervision, Brian is with his children every day," she said.

An Orlando man accused of abusing his adopted Guatemalan son last May was sentenced to two-years probation this afternoon.

Brian Kloosterman, the husband of local pathologist and hematologist Dr. Stephanie Schreiner, pleaded no contest to child abuse, a third-degree felony. If he went to trial and was convicted, he could have faced up to five years in prison.

Prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick dropped the misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency or dependency of a minor.

Orange Circuit Court Judge F. Rand Wallis ordered Kloosterman to two-years probation but gave the stay-at-home dad the option of requesting early termination within a year if he follows all the rules.

The charges stem from allegations made by the family's former nanny who told police she watched Kloosterman, on a surveillance monitor, "snapping [the child] in the face with the little boys' own underwear" and pinning the screaming child to the bed.

Kloosterman's attorneys said the charge would have been hard to prove. No injuries were found the day after the accusations but a bruise was seen 36 hours later. Kloosterman - who has no criminal record - opted to plea instead of chancing a trial.

Three fucking days after the adoption???

"The video is graphic, but also misleading," the statement read. "Brian never intentionally hurt his son. This is an isolated, one minute event that did not physically harm their little boy."
Maybe no visible evidence of physical harm, but what about mental harm? The child has just been uprooted from his country and placed in a strange environment, with virtual strangers. He would already be traumatised by that and should have had love, patience and understanding to help him to adapt and settle in. Instead of that, he gets an adult male, his new daddy, 'snapping him in the face with his own underwear' and pinning him down onto the bed!

Its still abuse even if it doesnt leave marks.

Does anyone else find it odd and more than a little creepy that the mother asked Dr. G about this? Maybe it's just because I saw her use hedge loppers to open up ribcages on tv, but I thought that was a really odd thing to mention. Like, name dropping will make us think you're less of an idiot.

Also, what the hell is the "format" for an abusive family? Does she honestly think that money or affluence makes people less likely to be abusive?

In 2007, Kloosterman was investigated when, according to the medical examiner, his adopted infant son sustained "non-accidental" brain injuries.

    From this article: http://www.clickorlando.com/news/19047156/detail.html

Ok, let me get this straight. The first born died at 5 days old (cause never mentioned), 9 month old suffers a stroke, leading to brain damage, infant son has non-accidental brain injuries.....Am I detecting a pattern here?

And why is the adopted mother undergoing a psych evaluation? I have never heard of another case where a person who allows abuse is required to have a mental evaluation. Certainly, she shouldn't have custody of her children.
