Allan Polhemus arrested for keeping weenie in his pants

A man accused of hiding two pounds of hot dogs in his pants before leaving a grocery store sans paying faces a misdemeanor theft charge, according to a recently released arrest affidavit.

A loss prevention worker at a Publix at South U.S. 1 and Prima Vista Boulevard last week told investigators she saw a man later identified as Allan Polhemus on aisle five "conceal a package of hot dogs in his pants," an affidavit states.

The 32 ounce package of Publix jumbo beef franks was valued at $6.99. The wiener packaging describes the dogs as "meaty & delicious" and as having "no fillers."

Deputies took Polhemus, of the 6100 block of Birch Drive in Fort Pierce, to jail and took photos of the franks, which often are served in a pre-sliced bun with relish, ketchup and mustard.

If you are going to swipe something, why the hell would it be HOT DOGS? Steal steak!

When people are desperate... He probably thought he could get away with just hotdogs.

When I was working publix, one morning just at opening... was maybe 5 minutes after we opened... I was placing bread on the racks when I found a pot roast sitting on the floor near the front door. I picked it up and shouted to the people standing in line asking if anyone had dropped it. They all said no, so I went outside to look around. Didn't see anything, so I went inside to tell the grocery manager what I had found.
He checks the video. A man came in, scooped up an armload of meat, walked right out the door.
Yeah, he got away with it because he didn't stop to pick up the pot roast he had dropped.

No matter how desperate, I would still steal something that makes it worth going to jail for. Even a ham steak is better than a tube steak.
