A biochemist who killed her husband by knocking him out and pouring hydrochloric acid on him was convicted Wednesday of first-degree murder.

A Superior Court jury found Larissa Schuster, 47, of Clovis, guilty of killing Timothy Schuster with the special circumstance that the murder was committed for financial gain. His half-dissolved body was found a few days after his 2003 death in a barrel that was inside a storage unit that his wife had rented.

Prosecutors said Larissa Schuster and her former lab assistant kidnapped her 45-year-old husband on July 10, 2003, knocked him out with a stun gun and chloroform-soaked rag, then dumped his bound body head-first into a barrel while he was still breathing.

The assistant, James Fagone, told authorities that Larissa Schuster then poured hydrochloric acid into the 55-gallon container.

FRESNO, Calif. - A central California biochemist convicted of killing her estranged husband by knocking him out and stuffing him into a vat of acid has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Larissa Schuster of Clovis was convicted in December of murdering Timothy Schuster with the special circumstance that the murder was committed for financial gain.

His half-dissolved body was found a few days after his 2003 death in a barrel that was inside a storage unit his wife had rented.

At the 47-year-old woman's sentencing hearing Friday, a Fresno County Superior Court judge also rejected her attorney's motion for a new trial.

definately agree with you on that one, and look it only took him a few days after his death to find him

On another note - to drop him into the barrel of acid when he was still breathing is just sick beyond imagine... still don't get how anyone (even demented demonites :) ) could do such a thing
