A New Brunswick man is charged with attempted murder after slashing two men during an attempt to take their beer Thursday evening, police said.
The incident began around 6:45 p.m. when the victims, both age 30, carried beer as they walked back to their home on Joyce Kilmer Avenue, Lt. J.T. Miller said. As they approached another home on that street, two men on the porch asked for the beer.

When the victims refused, the four men got into a fight, Miller said. During the fight, one man used a knife to cut one victim in the chest and the other in the face.

Witnesses called police, who responded and arrested the attacker, identified as Antonio Almador, Miller said. The second man who had demanded the victims’ beer escaped.
Almador, 28, was charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses, the lieutenant said. He was being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick, but bail had not been set Friday morning.
