Murder charges expected in baby's death
A 3-month-old Hemet girl died Wednesday from injuries police believe were caused by her father.
Riverside County homicide detectives said they will recommend that a murder charge be filed against the father, Jason Moore, 31, of Hemet.
Moore was arrested July 27 when police were called to Hemet Valley Medical Center. The girl was brought to the emergency room with a brain injury and transferred to Loma Linda University Medical Center's Children Hospital.
Homicide detectives were called when Hemet deputies determined that the injuries appeared to be from child abuse and that she was not expected to survive, Central Homicide Sgt. Dean Spivacke said in a report.
After the girl's death, her organs were donated and her body was transported to the Riverside County coroner's office, where an autopsy was conducted.
Moore was first charged with child abuse, but those charges are expected to be upgraded to murder, Spivacke said.
