Branford police arrested Douglas Trofatter, 22, of Branford, around 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said Trofatter confronted and became involved in a fight with another man over a domestic dispute. Police said Trofatter jumped out of a vehicle in a parking lot on West Main Street that contained his 8-month-old child. However, police said Trofatter forgot to set the parking brake inside the vehicle and it began to roll away.
Police said the vehicle traveled 50 feet before it hit another vehicle and came to a stop.
Police arrested Trofatter and charged him with risk of injury to a minor and breach of peace. Trofatter was being held on $5,000 bond.
