Eddie Escalante is accused of leaving "tangible visible impressions on child's butt"

Dona Ana Sheriff's Investigators arrested and charged a Las Cruces man with child abuse after he allegedly hit a girl with a sly swatter.

Eddie Rey Escalante, 23, of the 5300 block of La Reina, was arrested on Aug. 1 after sheriff's deputies were called to his residence in reference to a possible abused child.

According to Sheriff's Investigator Carlos Montoya, Sheriff's Deputies, after being called to Escalante's residence by an anonymous caller, discovered the victim, female, age 3, suffering from blisters on her buttocks.

The child was left in the care of Escalante, while the child's mother and Escalante's wife were away.

Escalante allegedly swatted the child with a fly swatter, leaving tangible visible impressions on the child's buttocks, matching the pattern of the fly swatter.

Escalante was charged by Sheriff's Investigator Carlos Montoya with one third degree count of Child Abuse - Intentional (No Death or Great Bodily Harm).

Besides the felony charge of child abuse, Escalante had two outstanding warrants for his arrest for Failure to Appear.

Escalante was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center.

I can see swatting a kid with a fly swatter. but NOT a 3 year old. 10, maybe? idk. I personally wouldn't do it.

yeah...but enough to leave blisters and the impression of the fly swatter? No kid at any age should have to go through that...

I was swatted by my grandmother as a child and it dd not leave blisters or fly swatter impressions on my skin. This man was not "swatting" the child he was hit the child as hard as he could. Bastard

Pene, you took the words out of my mouth. Had he swatted her, I don't we'd be reading about it. He took that swatter and hit her as hard as he could to leave the imprint and cause blisters.

IMO, that fucker is right where he belongs, being swatted by Bubba, he too leaves marks

From the sounds of it, that kid was swatted on BARE buttocks. I don't think the injuries would have been so serious had she been wearing undies and pants. Wonder if there is more going on than we know.

I'm looking at my fly swatter right now. There is no way. This guy had to go way out of his way to do that kind of damage to a little heiney. What a buttwad! Mom probably swatted the kids behind and he thought he could do better. Congtrats asshole, you are a BIG MAN!
