Police Find Man Dead In Doorway
DAVIE, Fla. -- An 18-year-old was shot to death early Wednesday morning after apparently breaking into a home in western Davie.
The shooting happened at about 1:45 a.m. in the Chelsea at Ivanhoe community on Southwest 51st Street.
Davie police said a man and young woman -- possibly father and daughter, according to neighbors -- were sleeping inside the home when an intruder came in and startled them. The man took protective action and shot the intruder twice, striking him once in the face.
When police arrived, they found the intruder dead in the front doorway of the home.
"At some point while this young man between the age of 18 and 20 was inside the home, several gunshots rang out," Lt. Bill Bamford said. "The young man was struck twice and he fell dead in the front foyer area of the home. We don't know if there's any relationship between this young man and the residents of the home or if this was just a ranom act -- that he was trying to break into a home."
The victim was identified as 18-year-old Richard Rojas, of Miami.
Davie police towed a red BMW from the scene that apparently belonged to Rojas.
Police are trying to determine what prompted the shooting and what relationship, if any, Rojas had with those inside the home.

Ex-Boyfriend Said 18-Year-Old Was Set Up
March 29, 2008
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. --New details of a three-year-old death and possible ambush that left an 18-year-old man dead in Davie.
Richard Rojas was killed in July of 2005 at his ex-girlfriend's home. Police have received information from a man about what happened the night of the slaying.
The gunman who alleged killed Rojas said the teenager was trying to break in. Last month, five people were arrested in the case and charged with conspiracy and murder. Rojas' ex-girlfriend, her father and three others are in the Broward County Jail, and were arrested after a key witness recently came forward.
"I don't know if he died inside the house or outside, but I know they moved the body," Julio Arce told Davie police detectives two months ago.
Arce is the former boyfriend of Kristin Bilotti, who is in the Broward County Jail with her father, Michael Bilotti, and three others accused of murdering Rojas.
According to Arce, Rojas was lured to the home and murdered in what he described as a "mob style" set up. It all began, he said, when Bilotti told her father that Rojas, her ex-boyfriend, raped her. Arce said Michael Bilotti flipped.
"He goes, 'N,o he's dead.' So he picked up the phone and called a dozen guys. Four or five showed up, all with guns," Arce said in the statement.
The men all worked at Bilotti's strip club, Secrets, in Northwest Miami Dade, according to police. They were identified as John Pacchiana, Wayne Pallazola and Richard Corbin.
When Rojas called Kristin Bilotti's cell phone, Arce was told to answer it, and said he was ordered by the armed men to lure Rojas to the home.
"Egg him on, you know, tell him you want to fight, tell him this and that, we'll grab him," Arce said the men told him.
Rojas accepted the challenge and said he was on the way over to the house. That's when Arce said the discussion between the gunmen turned surreal.
"It sounded like this was a routine thing. He was like, 'This time I want to be the guy that gets to do it. It's my turn to be the shooter.' They were laughing, they were joking," said Arce.
He said Pacchiana and Corbin were waiting at the home when Rojas arrived. A struggle ensued and Rojas was shot twice, once in the neck and once in the face. Arce said later he overheard Corbin talking on the phone about how it all happened.
"They were talking about how they had to hold him down, and something went wrong, so when they shot the kid, it didn't look like self defense," Arce told detectives.

Rape Claim May Have Prompted Teen's Murder
June 29 2010
Nearly three years ago, gunfire ended a teenager's life in an upscale Davie neighborhood.
Now five individuals face murder and conspiracy charges, including a father and his teenage daughter, after new evidence reportedly contradicts their story.
According to Davie Police the night 18-year old Richard Rojas died he went on a first date with a girl he had recently met. But it was a former girlfriend, Christin Bilotti and her new boyfriend, whom Rojas reportedly went to see late on July 12th, 2005.
[...]
According to investigator reports on the case, the afternoon before the Bilotti home in Ivanhoe became a crime scene Christin allegedly told her mother that Rojas had broken in and raped her.
"She throws an allegation of rape at him and that story snowballed," said Coyne.
Investigators said the rape allegations enraged Christin's father, Michael Bilotti, who reportedly enlisted the help of three men – Richard Corbin, John Pacchiana and Wayne Palazzola - who worked for him at area nightclubs. One of those men, Pacchiana, is accused of shooting Rojas.
According to police records, the Bilottis told detectives Rojas had planned to visit the house to retrieve $2-thousand dollars that he had left there. According to their story, while at the house Rojas threatened Pacchiana with a gun and so Pacchiana shot Rojas in the face and in the back of the neck in self defense.
But according to documents recently released by the Davie Police Department investigators uncovered a different story.
First, according to a friend of Rojas, Christin was never raped.
"Rojas was invited over to the residence by Christin," according to an investigator's report, "and they had sex."

A check of phone records days before Rojas' death reveal there were dozens of phone calls between Christin Bilotti and Rojas, one lasting nearly an hour. Detectives believe those calls show Rojas was not stalking or harassing Christin Bilotti as she and her family had claimed.
"There were several phone conversations between them, there were some up to as much as 20 to 30 minutes in length which is kinda not common for someone accusing another person of rape to be making contact with them and having long conversations with them," said Coyne.
