According to arrest reports obtained by Fox 41 News, 40-year-old Donnie McCallahan intentionally set fire to a halfway house in the 1800 block of Jefferson Avenue. Two people were inside the home when the fire was set. A third allegedly ran inside, rescued the individuals and extinguished the fire.
McCallahan ran from the scene and was picked up by police, according to the arrest report. Before he could be questioned, he blurted out that he had to set the fire, because, according to the report, "it was the only way for them to listen to him."
He is charged with one count of arson and three counts of wanton endangerment.
