PRINCE GEORGE — A 27-year-old man who police say was high on drugs was arrested Friday after attempting to abduct a four-month-old baby in Prince George.
Prince George RCMP was called around 2 p.m. to the corner of Eighth Avenue and Victoria Street after the man allegedly pushed between a young couple and tried to grab their baby out of a stroller. He was "tweaking" on drugs and mumbling that the baby was in danger, according to witnesses.
The man then assaulted the mother and father as they tried to fight him off, according to police. Once the baby was back with its parents, the man ripped the cover off the baby stroller and charged into oncoming traffic.
Police found the man, who is well-known to police, and took him into custody. He faces charges of attempted abduction, two counts of assault and obstructing a police officer for giving a false name at the time of his arrest.
RCMP Victim Services were offered to the couple.
