I have a few stories. When I was a kid I saw (saw right through her and saw the dresser stuff through her) a transparency of who looked to be my Aunt Totsye but at that time she was not dead, she didn't die for another 27 years. Her husband, my Uncle Delbert had sleep apnea so I know what you're talking about there Alf, I was near panicky nearly all night while waiting for him to breathe and snore on the handful of nights I spent there.
In 2000, I was renovating my front room, took the plaster off the lathe on one wall and sheeted it back up then started tackling the evil floor. It was a bad floor, you could not walk on it without shoes for it would give you splinters and enjoy it. I was the only person in my home during this strange event that occurred. I had rented a drum sander and was working with that, needed to use the bathroom, went in the bathroom did my business, flushed etc. exited. A half hour later another bathroom call, so I go in, lift the lid and there is a damn TOAD in the bowl the size of my fist. I cannot tell you how it appeared and I can't believe for a moment it could do the verticals of the sewage line (there is a three foot vertical to the first elbow in the basement straight off the flange) to have climbed up from there, nor could it have fit through from the tank to the bowl. Not a ghost and a fully alive toad, but I was still totally perplexed. My cedar floor turned out looking like beautiful wood glass after 16 coats of poly. Awesome.
I and two of my friends (we all were barely driving age) got chased off out of a small cemetery at night by a pair of "ghost headlights" that I am positive there had been a car approaching behind us (I was sure we were busted was saying go go go from the backseat), but was nowhere to be found a simple moment later. Probably did not help that we were at the 13 sided church's graveyard.
I am also positive I once saw what had to be a UFO but it was not close, very far away, while star watching. Shone as bright as a satellite and was very fast in the sky heading west until it immediately began heading upward. I saw it make a sharp L turn in the sky. No plane can do that, and it was very up there as far as the stars also looked, so I doubt it was a helicopter either. I don't know what it was.
I've ran off from other places due to spooky noises, but I can't know if I was over-reacting or what since I beat feet the hell out of them.

I have had two semi-precognitive dreams. In the first a relative died. Actually, a different relative died IRL. In the second, I died of machine gun fire in the jungle. Needless to say I didn't die, but I did wind up flying a combat mission over the jungle.

I have dreamed a bunch of times about winning the lottery, but that hasn't happened yet.

My house is a century-plus year old farm house. I am the first owner that hasn't been in the family that built it. There is a cellar off the basement behind a plank door. When I moved in there was a set mouse trap on one of the shelves in the cellar. I spent a lot of time in the basement working on this, tinkering with that, and wasting time with the other. One of my time wasters was inventorying the old canning jars in the cellar, and I was sure to close the door when I was done. One evening I went down to the basement to tinker, and the cellar door was open. And there was a dead mouse in the trap. I have often wondered if there was something that didn't want a dead mouse stinking up the basement so it popped the door open to draw me into an investigation.

WOW you took the words right out of my mouth!! I have thought before that he may have sleep apnea, and it seems that the men in his family die young-his own father died in his late 40's. My husband thinks he too will go young-I insist he goes to the doctor - we have been round and round about it for nearly 14 yrs. But you have put his snoring and the creepy msg together for me-thanks-I am going to keep playing it for him till he gives in!!!

This is such a great thread, fantastic stories!!! Keep them coming. I'll have to go and read the Waverly thread.

Not surprisingly, we saw a ghost at Gettysburg, PA.

I was an auditor. We auditing the school districts in & around York, PA. We were there about 6 months & had to stay in a hotel (brand new Holiday Inn, it rocked!). Most of the time my husband was able to stay w/ me & in the evening we would take rides around the area but most of the time we ended up going to Gettysburg. It is huge and fascinating and some parts you can just feel it,,very eerie but that's another story.

We started going there in the spring and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Then in the summer it picked up, many tourists, tours & many, many Civil War Reenactors. And wow, some of those dudes/families really got into it. We talked to some of them, they would invite you to their camps and explain what they were doing, the way it was at the time of the Civil War, etc.,,,,very interesting.

Fall came and the place quieted down. One late afternoon, we were on our way and stopped at a red light in the center of town. On the opposite side of the street I noticed a lone young man, dressed head to foot as a Yankee solder, he was carrying a leather satchel, like a mailbag on his shoulder. I remember thinking,,,these people (reenactors) must do this year round. It was bumper to bumper traffic so we were moving slowly. A few blocks later, I noticed the fellow again,,now he was on my side of the road. I guess cause we were stuck in traffic I started watching him, he was about 5'7", slight built. I observed how straight, and purposeful he walked,,it was still kinda hot out and I'm thinking, this guy must be as hot as the hinges of hell, walking around in that heavy wool outfit. I mean, he was power walking.

As we eventually got closer and started to pass him, I saw how shabby he was. His clothes were very dusty and had longish hair. I don't know why but I started to feel sorry for him. My husband noticed him too and we talked about it but by then we had passed him and we put it out of our minds.

About 1/2 hour later we arrived at the entrance to the park and my hubby said, there's your buddy. I looked over and saw him. When I did he turned his head and we made eye contact. He had a weather-worn look to his face but the eyes,,,they were the saddest eyes I ever saw, I mean, eyes of someone, who's heart is broken and I was shook by them, then, he "saluted" us and I saluted him back. He had a handsome, and for lack of a better word; proud face. Once again, we turned the corner and went on to see the "Eternal Light" monument. Before the monument is a large flat piece of land, that was used as a battle field.

We no sooner got out of the car and by the monument, when DH says,,"what is that guy doing?" There are signs ALL over the place that say you may NOT go onto the battlefields because you may disturb historical artifacts and here this guy is marching straight down the battlefield. We are watching him and I guess we got distracted by our dogs or something but like 30 seconds later DH says, "where did he go?". I look up and he's gone, Poof! There is NO way he could have left this area on foot in a matter of 30 seconds. I'm telling you we JUMPED,,,we ran into the car and drove every inch of this area, he was nowhere to be found. Oh, I should add, we were the ONLY car in this area at the time. It was just us and him. I wasn't afraid of him I just wanted to see him again, we didn't. I would doubt my own sanity but the two of us, saw the same thing.

I wish I had a better picture but just to give you an idea,,,he was in the middle of the battlefield in the upper right of this picture.

    I remain unflappable.
Yet know, my master, God omnipotent,
Is mustering in his clouds on our behalf
Armies of pestilence; and they shall strike

That lift your vassal hands against my head
And threat the glory of my precious crown.

I can't believe no one has mentioned D'D's ghost!

It's the ghost of Jaded's liver.

No worries, it's not a scary ghost. Kinda sad and pathetic, really. It just went way before its time.

As some are aware, I do not believe in the supernatural at all. Ghosts, psychics, magic, etc. There is absolutely no proof of it and in today's age of everything imaginable being captured on camera, STILL no proof of it. Now I'm not saying that people do not experience things that cannot be readily explained, but for me, currently unexplainable does not equal supernatural. There will always be a scientific explanation for all supernatural stories - barring they were not completely made-up or embellished.

I've had two instances in my life that were mind-blowing in the fact that I was witnessing something that I had never seen before, never experienced before and had never heard of happening. In fact, I blogged about one of those instances:

    http://www.dreamindemon.com/forums/blog.php?b=1022

But in a nutshell, I will be more than happy to accept that there is a supernatural as soon as it is proven. Until then, I will always be the wet blanket at a ghost hunting get-together, the only thing I would be scared of in any supposed "haunted" building, is the lack of any beer.

Well, at first, I thought I haven't had anything, but that's not true. As I think back there are marked experiences that I usually dismissed as I was frightened but, I know, yes I know things have happened.

I will say first, I believe in God, angels, spirits, demons, the afterlife, aliens and just weird shit.
BUT I am not one to dismiss a scientific explanation. Matter of fact I am rather skeptical, and look for a sound explanation.

As a child I remember times of great sorrow, even despair. In part due to a less than pleasant childhood, traumatizing moments in my life and simply being uncared for. Anyhow my point is I have often thought my mind was trying to compensate, protect me sort to speak. There was this thing that happened, I think I was around 11, not sure, 9-11 of age. I had these terrible nightmares most I couldn't remember on but that I was running from something. One morning I woke up from one and was lying in bed shaking off the feeling of fear. As I decided to get up and stop thinking on it, I suddenly felt someone on top of me, I mean a dead weight, couldn't move, couldn't cry out, could hardly breathe. I was in a sense paralyzed. Then I felt this "thing" on me and it was covering my mouth, felt a hand on my neck. It lasted for moments I am sure but seemed much longer at the time. It was there, then it suddenly wasn't.

At some point, I told my mother. Mistake. She try to convince me it was a demon and somehow I'd opened myself up to an "attack", yeah, like telling me that helped ease my nerves and especially at such a young impressionable age. I don't know what IT was but I do know I convinced myself I must have still been dreaming. Might have been but even today i think on that often as I wake up in the morning....expecting something, to pounce on me.

This is actually more common than most people know. A few months after the death of someone I cared deeply about, I was staying with a friend and had a room to myself. I read before bed, and I had just closed my book and started to try to get to sleep.

I hadn't been sleeping right since he died, and tbh I haven't since... On the other hand, I've always had insomnia of some sort.

So, the door's closed, I've rolled over to face the wall on the bed, I've closed my eyes to begin that internal battle before sleep.

It started as a feeling of icy anticipation, in the pit of my stomach. It grew quickly and I was soon terrified, it wasn't normal fear. I started feeling something behind me, in the room, watching. I KNEW it was there, and I KNEW it shouldn't be. I didn't feel in danger, just, that whatever was there should NOT be.

I tried to turn around, to check, but I found I couldn't move. I tried to talk, but I had no control over my body at all, it was like trying to run something by remote control, but the batteries were dead in the remote.

This did not help my state of mind, so I just started trying to scream... using as much effort as I could, I managed to squeak out "I'm scared," and it lifted, it just stopped. No fear, no weird feeling, a second later I could move all fine. It was very odd, so of course I googled it.

It's called Sleep Paralysis. Essentially, your physical body is in sleep mode, only your brain is "awake." It tends to happen in times of stress, or with poor sleep. Although my experience did not include this, often times the person feels threatened by the presence they sense, and this presence approaches and the person can feel the pressure.

Oooh I love all this stuff!!
When I was 6 I woke my mom up at 4:30 am and told her my granddad died
She said no he didn't hes coming home tomorrow,he was in hosp in Toronto or London to have his "stump checked each yr"
(He had lost his leg working at Dominion Bridge and had to be checked often for insurance reasons I guess)
So he was 52 and healthy ,at 5 am the phone rang and my grand dad had died
When someones going to die I hear something and I didn't say a word until about 5 yrs ago I started telling mom, hubby, best friend so that if I said something before it happened then they knew I wasn't bullshitting when it happened
After telling my mom about someone she knew few yrs back she asked me not to tell her anymore b.c it freaks her out
This house has so many things that happen here from day 1 and you can see the old man that built the house
Hubby freaks and so they play jokes on him
He was laying in bed and his lamp shade began spinning around, his jacket on the coat tree the arms kept raising and falling lol
But the best one is we were getting ready to go out and he screamed for me to come upstairs and I get to the bedroom and the covers are "shivering" not the bed just the covers
Hes freaking and says "this is your fucking ghost b.c you talk to him" lol
Well the light fixture was above his head and the bulb BLEW UP not blew but shattered
I have never seen him move so fast
I'm shocked he sleeps here at all b.c it will be really quiet then boom very active again
My son and I were the only ones forever that saw things but slowly Heaven and hubby began to see stuff but not as much as we do
This is my son day we took possession of the house
We smelled flowers and saw lights and crap and took this pic
Its been checked out and not tampered with by my friends dad who's a cop he took it to work b/c he was fascinated with it and wanted to make sure it wasn't fucked with
Kinda looks like someone sitting beside him
We didnt even have half the furniture moved in yet
We have had sooo many things happen here but I'm not afraid of it hubby gives reaction and they play on that
Ghosts and hauntings dont scare me I love when our guy is active and my SIL works with his granddaughter at casino so I am able to verify things that show up or stuff that happens
We have had people come through that tell me he needs to be sent away and I have to tell him blah, blah, blah and Im not b/c he built the place and just loved it according to his family so I refuse to boot him
I have to much fun watching him go after hubby

Ill prob regret telling this b/c many people dont believe and think your a freak if you do believe

You know I have read on this, much later as I was looking into it. And I have had exactly what you said when I'm in some sleep mode that feels lucid. Its usually when i'm napping mid day or something, not often now, but it has happened.
I suppose it could have been that, sure as hell were living under stressful conditions at the time.
Somehow I remember it differently than the experience i had that morning.....

Hmm. I'm not sure where to start. In fact, I wasn't going to comment on this one at all but I just had an interesting conversation with the boys while we were experiencing a two hour long power outage tonight. So I suppose I'll start with our current home, which we own.

Our gas line comes out of the house and into the ground, straight through what appears to be a head stone. The name on the stone is "S.W. Roberts", and the dates are 1901-1921 (I think? I'll have to send someone out to check it tomorrow). We have also found pieces of two other head stones, also with the last name of Roberts but with different death dates. We have not found the portions of these two other stones that contain the first names and birth dates. We've searched the yard over, so I doubt we will. I have no idea if these were originally on the property before the house was built, or if they were hauled in with stone during the building process. Since they are all three Roberts, the latter seems less likely but fuck...it could happen. Anyway, the reason that I bring the house up is this:

Tonight while we were sitting here during the power outage, we were discussing not being afraid of the dark, etc. when the 11 year old brought up S.W. Roberts. "I'm not afraid of S.W. Roberts" he said. "He just wants to play". He was referring to a time that he was playing in his bedroom and one of his hotwheels moved across the floor by itself. I remember him bounding down the stairs to excitedly tell us about it when it "happened", but had forgotten about it until he brought it back up tonight.

I've had a lot of weird shit happen in my life. It's not something that I dwell on, because I don't think it's something that I should fuck around with. I also see no reason to fear any of it, and never have...but then again, like I said: I don't fuck around with it.

I very frequently feel "touches", and there are often times when I feel like there's something in the room with me. Both of those sensations have gone on for years, regardless of where I've lived.

I've seen a pen fly, not fall......not slide...not roll...fly off the middle of an end table and land half way across the living room. In that same house, my stereo came on by itself and was tuned to a station that I had never heard of and played the weirdest fucking song ever...that I still to this day don't know the name of. The system had no timer, and the remote was on top of the entertainment center that held the stereo when it came on. I also, in that same house woke up several times to my name being called in the dead of night.

As far as premonition goes, I'm not even sure if what I've experienced could fall into that category. I prefer to label it, as with all the rest if it, with the title of "More weird shit". I've had a voice (that apparently only I could hear) halt me in my tracks twice in my lifetime. Once it stopped me in mid-swing, about to knock the fuck out of an abusive ex boyfriend with a frying pan in a first time act of retaliation. It told me I'd keep hitting him until he was dead. The other time I was in college and heading to my car after class, and was about to walk down a grassy slope toward the lot where my car was parked. It said "If you go down that, you're going to fall and bust your ass". I walked down it anyway, and did in fact fall and bust my ass. Everything I was carrying in my arms flew into the air like a friggin' mushroom cloud when my ass hit the ground, and I pulled damn near every muscle in my right leg on the way down.

Premonition, divine intervention (or attempted divine intervention in the second case) or the first sign of schizophrenia? You tell me, because I could easily go either way on that one.

Dreams. Harder for me to even grasp than the last subject, because they're fucking dreams for crying out loud. I normally don't even remember them, if I even have them.

I've had two experiences with dreams that I could remember. The first involved a friend who died in a car accident shortly after high school. About 3 months after her death, I dreamed that she came to visit me. She sat on my bed, we talked about her accident...."everything's going to be OK" and blah, blah. She asked me to go for a ride with her, so I did. In the next sequence we were riding down her street and passed by her house. As we did, she told me that her ex boyfriend had driven by her house and saw her bedroom light on and that it freaked him out. About a week later, he called me and told me that he'd driven by her house and saw her bedroom light on and freaked out.

I always thought of that dream as my brain's way of coping. I was very young. I had been hurt by her death, and pissed at myself because when she died she had just asked to hang out the weekend before but I was busy with the above mentioned abusive ex boyfriend of the frying pan tale...so I had asked her if we could meet up the next weekend instead. She never saw that next weekend...she died that Wednesday night. The ex boyfriend part, I always saw as coincidence. He happened to live on the same street she did, and it was such a raw thing that seeing her light on would sort of expectantly upset him.

The other dream though. It bothers me. About 6 years ago I had the exact same dream, word for word, twice in once week. The dream was that my sister-in-law called me and woke me up, and when I answered the phone she said "(cell phone static)-Ki died". Since I didn't catch the first part of the name, I responded each time with "Who?" Each time she would then say "Miki. Kristy's sister".

A couple of days after dreaming it the second time, my sister-in-law called me at 5:55 in the morning....jolting me awake. I looked at the phone and actually said the words "Oh, huh-uh!" and muted it. I sat there contemplating calling her back for a few minutes, because of that fucking dream. I knew she wouldn't call me that early unless there was something wrong, and I didn't want that something wrong to be what I had dreamed it would be. I called her back. She picked up the phone, and the first thing she said was "(cell phone static)-Ki died". I didn't have to ask her who she'd said. I already knew because of that fucking dream. Miki's ex husband had followed her after she left work the night before, rammed her car at an intersection, got out, and emptied a 9mm into her.

I don't know what to think about it. It does haunt me to this day.

I'm such a retard. I didn't see who posted this, read it and was about to say "Groovy saw the same exact thing!"

I've never seen a ghost except for shadows out of the corner of my eye, but I've felt a lot of things. I'm intuitive and a feeler. I've been hit on the nose, had a ghost living in my one apartment who chilled in the kitchen; he made the curtains moved when I asked. After my grandpa died, he poked me in the back one night.
One thing that really freaked me out was when I woke up paralyzed. I couldn't move except for my eyes and I had this weird sound in my ears. I tried to yell for help, but nothing would come out. I must have been in that state for 10 minutes before I could move. I also feel my spirit guide sometimes; she likes to touch me on my head.
Oh, and across the street from here where we go for hikes sometimes I feel a presence. I know it's a young girl and she told me it wasn't her fault.
I fart in your general direction.

Oh and sometimes at night before I go to sleep I hear a bunch of voices. It's hard for me to tune in to one particular voice, it's just weird.

The bar I used to work in is haunted. Back in the early '80's (not sure of the year) a guy came in to the bar and had a few drinks. He then pulled out a gun and committed suicide. His ghost now haunts the bar. Almost everyone who has ever worked there has had some weird experiences, like a full keg tipping over onto its side. Also, he hated one of the bands that would play there. Every time they played, they would come in in the morning and all their gear would be moved and the sound board would be messed up.

Anywho, on to the reason for this post. Just wanted to give a little background. The bar was two stories, and at the top of the stairs going to the upstairs bar there is a little alcove with restrooms. It was the end of the night and I was kicking people out. I was doing a last bathroom check, and walked into the mens room. There was a guy in a red shirt at the urinal peeing. I was all "sorry dude! hurry up, time to go" and beat feet out to wait at the bathroom doorway for him to leave. He didn't come out and didn't come out. Finally I asked one of the guys working there to go in and make sure he didn't pass out. He goes in and comes right back out and says "There's no one in there." I'm like "Bullshit. He was just at the urinal." And there is NO WAY he could have walked out past me and down the stairs without either me or one of 5 other people seeing him. NO WAY. I refused to go into that bathroom ever again after that. The really weird thing is that every couple of years, there is a call to the po-po from the bar staff about an intruder in a red shirt that won't come out of the bathroom, and when the cops come, they can never find him. It's almost become a running joke.

My one neighbor was a single dad just after we moved here he had 2,4 and 6 yo and he worked steady midnights at Chrysler so I rearranged my life for what ended up being 5 yrs b/c courts wouldn't allow the mom around them at all
One night I went over after I had worked my afternoon shift and he was leaving and I asked if he had a family member that was quite old or sick
He said his grandmother was 94 and not doing to good and asked why
I didn't wanna tell him but he bugged and I said someones going to pass tonight
And since I was getting the feeling at his place I thought it was someone close to him
He was kinda skeptical about stuff like that and said yeah o.k whatever
We had a snow storm that night and when i got home in the morning my phone was dead
Out of the whole street my phone was the only one dead
About 4 hours later he came to the door with his cordless phone and his face was white as a sheet
He told me to call my mom b/c she had to tell me something
So I used his called and MY grandmother had died during the night!!
He was freaking out and only thing I can come up with is my phone was knocked out as a way to prove to him that things do happen
This is the same guy that eventually wouldn't come into the house because hes afraid of floating squeegees lol
Also when I was there about a week after my father in laws funeral I went to turn around one night and my FIL was leaning against his island smoking a cig just like he did at his place before he died

Undeniable TruthI can relate to your son with the car moving one of the very first things here was I had 2 small bowls at the bottom of the steps for kittens so they would have water and food in few places around
And 1 cat always pulls her water bowl out and drives me friggen nuts
By habit I push it back with my foot as I walk by so nobody dumps it
Well I pushed it back in and it slid back out about 2 feet
I sat on bottom step over an hour waiting for it to move again and it didn't but after that we saw things happening around here

When my 20 year old was younger, I am guessing about 4 or 5 maybe she came up to me out of the blue and asked me where her kids were. Well I assumed she meant her baby dolls and so I told her they were in the pet net and I would get them down in a minute. Anyway, she says not my dolls, my kids. So I kind of looked at her weird like and asked her what she was talking about. She was in such a rush to tell me all of this it was so bizarre.

She said, don't you remember when I lived at such and such address in the big blue house and it caught on fire? I was like no. She then got a little frustrated with me and said yes you have to remember, we had that old Ford that wouldn't crank right (or something to that effect, about a crank) so I am just listening to her kind of getting freaked out and she is going into more and more detail. She said remember, my name was different and I had a husband and two children? Remember my big blue house it had a cracked step? What happened to my kids, did my husband get them out of the house in time? I tried to get out but the window was stuck. By then I am totally creeped out and thinking what the hell has this kid been watching on tv.

I didn't have the internet yet so I wrote everything down and went to the library and looked through old newspaper articles. I will shit you not, I found an article from 1912 where a family had perished in a fire, same city, same address, EVERY name was the same. THAT scared the shit out of me. What even scared me more was when I asked her about it, this is within a week of her saying all this, she said she doesn't know what I am talking about. To this day if you ever ask her about it she has absolutely no recollection of any of the conversation we had, I know we had talked about it for at least 45 min to an hr and she looked at me like I was nuts when I mentioned it.

I have no idea what that whole experience was but it still gives me chills thinking about how adamant she was that her house had burned down when she had a different name, a husband and 2 kids at 5 years old and I found all the proof about it before she was old enough and before we had the internet so she could of never have looked a story like that up.

ADDED: Will add some more stories about my moms creepy ass house, I really wanted Ghost Hunters to go there but she said no way because her upstairs is never used except for storage so she has a bunch of crap just piled up there and she would be embarrassed to let anyone see up there.

The thing is, I don't want to see a pen fly off of a table and land across the room once. I want to be able to pick it up, put it back on the table, and immediately have it happen again. And again. And again. I want it to happen thousands of times and video tape it from a hundred different angles. I want to test the room and make sure there's no other possible explanation for it, even though upon sight I truly believed at the time that there was none....to me, at the time, what occurred defied the laws of physics.

The scientist in me screams that no matter what I've experienced/seen/heard (and no, I haven't relayed all of it here), it's all a lost cause.

If I were to hypothesize that something supernatural is occurring around me (first of all I'd have to get far more specific than that, but I'll just leave it at that generalization for argument's sake), sure...I could use this board, along with the billions of other documented "experiences" that people across the globe have "had" as collected data. But that's as far as the method would progress. No experiment that I could ever concoct would be repeatable by others under the same conditions. Hell, I can't even get it to repeat for myself. That makes everything I would have done perfectly fallible, and the attempt completely futile.

Even if I got lucky and managed to video tape that pen flying 400 times, no one would ever really believe upon watching that tape that I didn't somehow rig that shit myself. Even if I had 20 witness in the room helping me pick the damned thing up and put it back on the table every time. Proving it to self...having enough "experience related evidence" to take the step from disbelief to belief, in other words....is one thing. Proving it to anyone other than self, or expanding that to proving it to the entire world is totally another.

Do I believe? Yes. But damn it even saying "Yes" is illogical to me.
