Jacob "Peanut" Treece, ten weeks, was flown to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis that Tuesday, after suffering serious injuries. He died Saturday afternoon.
Jacob Treece was born April 20, 2010, to David Treece, 41, and Jessica Maurizio, 31, both of Carterville. Jacob was the youngest of seven children between his mother and father.
Carbondale Police spent several hours collecting evidence at the Heritage Motel room, where Jacob and his family were staying last week. At the time, police reported Jacob was rushed to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for a medical emergency.
Jacob was then transferred to St. Louis for life threatening injuries.
