Cops: Man Raped Woman, Cut Her Throat
22-Year-Old Connected To 2 Attacks In Orlando
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A man sought in an attempted rape last month at an Orlando apartment complex pool bathroom was arrested Tuesday, and he faces charges in a rape at a nearby apartment in which he cut a woman's throat, police said.
Fernandito Carpio, 22, was arrested on charges of attempted murder and attempted sexual battery in connection with an incident June 13 at the Fountains Apartments on Millenia Boulevard.
Carpio also faces charges of home invasion robbery, armed sexual battery and attempted murder in an attack that occurred Friday at The Place at Millenia apartments.
According to Orlando police, a 24-year-old woman was attacked by a man around 3 p.m. Friday as she entered her apartment in the 5200 block Millenia Boulevard. The woman said she was raped before the man cut her throat with a sharp object, according to police.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and is recovering, police said.
While investigating the incident, Orlando police received a tip in the first attack, and Carpio was identified by the victim, police said.
A warrant was issued for Carpio, who was arrested on Tuesday and also identified by the victim in the second attack, police said.
