HUNTSVILLE, AL - The teenager accused of shooting a classmate at Discovery Middle School in February has been certified as an adult. Hammad Memon was 14 at the time Todd Brown was shot. Madison County District Judge Lynn Sherrod certified Memon as an adult during a juvenile court hearing today. He will have a bond hearing at 4 p.m.
The hearing started at 9 a.m. Friday in the Neaves-Davis Juvenile Detention Center, off Cook Avenue. Judge Sherrod only allowed Memon, his lawyer, and the district attorney to be present.

Memon is accused of shooting Todd Brown, 14, on February 5. Brown's family waited outside the hearing to hear the results. Judge Sherrod certified Memon as an adult just after 1:30 p.m.
Memon is accused of shooting Brown inside a school hallway. Many students and teachers witnessed the shooting, because it happened during a class change.
Brown's murder rocked Discovery Middle, prompting school officials to look at the safety and security in all of Madison's schools.
