Lori Pellin left 27 animals locked in her hot car while she gambled

They say ignorance is bliss, but sometimes it can be deadly. A woman has been charged with animal abuse after leaving 25 cats and 2 dogs inside of a hot vehicle for 2 hrs this past Sunday.

St. Charles police arrested Lori Pellin, 39, was inside of a casino. Pellin told the police that she had become homeless 3 days before and she was inside of the casino to use a computer and look for an apartment. She also indicated that she wanted to do a bit of gambling.

Thankfully, concerned passersby notified police of the animals in the hot vehicle. The 25 cats and 2 dogs were rescued from the vehicle and all survived, despite the high temperatures outdoors.

Police reported that the interior of the car was in deplorable condition - trash, food and feces were throughout the vehicle.

27! Animals in a car, she probably went into the casino to get out of the stench...I can't even imagine 27 animals fitting into a car ffs.

I can see trash in the car. Food for the animals... feces from the animals, but all 3 PLUS 27 dying animals.

She's not homeless now! Personally I'm glad she did something so stupid. It got her caught, and tha animals are safe now. Who knows what would have happened. And no wonder she was homeless, gambling when you're homeless. can you spell a-d-d-i-c-t-i-o-n?

Holy crap.
It's difficult to get THREE cats to get along in an entire apartment.
27 plus 2 dogs???!
MAYBE I can imagine that possibility in a stretch limo...
But....CAR?!
They must have been literally on top of each other.
They would probably be better off scavenging in the streets than with that crazy lady.

I am fostering two bulldog puppies. The amount of stench that comes from these two small dags is overwhelming. I am terrified that people will come by to visit and think I am a bad housekeeper. I can not imagine 27 animals in a small car. EWWWWwwwwww!

I had never seen the A&E show Hoarders but on a recent biz trip I saw several episodes back to back, and I never saw anything so heartbreaking. This woman clearly has severe mental problems. Twenty-seven cats in a car....plus a dog. Gambling and homeless.

And what is really heartbreaking is that most of the people, 99.99999 percent of them never get better. Even with help.

Sad...very sad...

I can't see stealin' someone elses happy, healthy, loved pet just to hoard them to the point of loosin' your home. It doesn't make sense.

yeah this is craziness. not legal insanity of course, but it's a thought process none of us can (thankfully) identify with or "understand."

she's a very damaged person that has developed a very destructive compulsion. that's not an excuse, just to say we won't understand "why" cuz there is no rational "why."
