Just in case anyone else is like me, too lazy to click the links:

The 8-year-old girl...told police the shot initially hurt so much she was unable to walk, according to a criminal complaint.

The woman faces up to three years in prison, and made an initial court appearance Friday and was released on a $5,000 signature bond.
The alleged incident occurred April 26 or 27. According to a criminal complaint: the child said her mother and the mother's boyfriend had been drinking 10-12 beers before the boyfriend offered her mother $1 and handed her the gun.

A pump BB gun, I wonder? One of the single shots just stings. We used to run around shooting each other all the time with BB guns when I was a kid. We had a 3 pump limit. Sometimes some retard ;) would go over the limit and you would end up with BBs under the skin (ouch!!) but they seldom penetrated clothes.

Of course, any adult that would shoot an 8 yo (theirs or someone else's) has issues...

I guess now she has to shoot the kid 4,999 for her BF to pay fully for her bond

I shot my friend with a bb gun when we were about 10. HE bet me that I couldn't hit him, so, I took the shot and won the bet!

Then, when we went to go get help getting the bb out, well, my dad took my gun. His dad screamed at him for daring me to shoot him.

See, if our parents had been "parents" like these guys we'd probably have been shot to death by b.b.gun. And that would be an embarrassing way to die.....

A 28-year-old Sheboygan woman was found not guilty Wednesday night of a felony charge of child abuse in a case where she was accused of shooting her 8-year-old daughter in the leg to win a $1 bet.

A seven-man, five-woman jury deliberated about 90 minutes before acquitting Angelique R. Vandeberg, of 2704 S. 17th St. The one-day trial lasted about nine hours before the jury was handed the case.

Jennifer Bork, the assistant Sheboygan County district attorney handling the case, said the 8-year-old girl had told a police detective, a school counselor and a neighbor that the shooting story was true, but the girl later changed her story following an initial meeting with her mother several days after the incident.

So the mom shoots her with a BB gun, but because she was wearing three pairs of pants (wtf?) it is okay?

Then the article says the girl is lying. Which is it? I'm thinking the girl was not lying.

If not, no wonder the girl changed her story after meeting with her mother.

I wonder if the jury would have convicted her if misdemeanor child abuse had been an option. Maybe they just thought the felony was too much?

Mom probably did it, but once the girl realized that if she didn't change her story she would lose her Mom forever, she recanted.

On the bright side, mom will probably never do anything like this again. And with a mom this stupid, with this lousy of taste in men, the girl may have gotten off light. This could have been much worse.
