Man Assaults Woman for Her Food Stamp Card

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A man is in jail after he is accused of assaulting a woman to steal her food-stamp card.

The assault happened at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when a suspect entered 32-year-old Holly Darst’s Grubb Street apartment, police said. That's on the city's near West Side.

According to detectives, 33-year-old Chris Veney Jr. demanded Darst’s food-stamp card then began punching her in the head multiple times.

Darst was knocked to the floor, and Veney kicked her in the head, police said.

Veney fled the scene but was stopped by officers a short time later.

Assault squad detectives arrested Veney and charged him with aggravated burglary and robbery.

why get something legally when you can steal it, I always say.

But in this case it probably was easier to steal it than live at the welfare office and jump thru their hoops until they decide to approve you.

Tho in no case do i approve of stealing it.
