After he was arrested on charges that he snatched a San Jose neighbor's five-year-old girl from a living room and sexually molested her, Phillip Michael Dominguez reportedly told police
he was so high on PCP he only remembered waking up, seeing a crying girl and realizing he was holding a child's underpants in his hand.
"I'm not a monster man,'' the 34-year-old laid-off pool cleaner told officers, according to police reports.
"I'm not a bad person.''
Then he repeatedly said that he didn't mean to hurt the girl.
Shackled and whispering a denial to his crying teenaged daughter, Dominguez was in Santa Clara County Superior Court Monday facing felony charges of aggravated child molestation; and a lewd act on a child under 14 with force, with a kidnapping allegationthat could, if he is convicted, put him behind bars for life.
As alleged, the brazen and horrific sex crime was documented in police reports released Monday after the arraignment, during which Judge Jerome Nadler
denied the suspect bail. Also arraigned was Racquel Martinez, the suspect's 39-year-old girlfriend, who is charged with aiding and abetting Dominguez as he tried to elude arrest. Her bail is set at $500,000.
The attack came on the afternoon of June 15 as the girl was playing with friends and watching TV in a neighbor's living room, reports said.
Dominguez, a neighbor who had already been rebuffed earlier by the child's caretaker when he asked to bring the girl to a park, came back again.
This time, there were only children in the room, and Dominguez didn't ask, according to police reports.

l, "Me and your mother are going shopping so I need you to come with me." Then they left.
But, the young girl told police, instead they went to his apartment, where he molested her.
Martinez later brought back the girl to the home.
The girl had her skirt on backwards and was wearing someone's else's underwear.
After police were called, officers spent hours looking for the suspect. At one point an investigator spoke with Dominguez on a cell phone.
The suspect reportedly began crying and asked the officer: "Did I hurt that little girl?"
"He said he thought he had done something wrong, but was not sure,'' the police report said. "Phil said he "freaked out" and he had never done anything like this before.''
As they looked for him, police interviewed
Martinez, who said that she had been sleeping and was awakened by a girl who was crying and saying a man had brought her to the apartment.
She brought the girl back to her home.
But when he was finally arrested, Dominguez told police a different story.
He said he had come out of his PCP blackout feeling Martinez punching him.
"What did you do-what did you do'' he recalled his girlfriend saying as she cried.
Dominguez told police that he had taken the girl to his home and maybe molested her "but was unsure.''
The suspect's daughter and ex-wife said after the arraignment that Dominguez used to be in a Modesto gang and had recently struggled with drug abuse. But they said they could not believe the horrible allegations were true.
"Somebody is lying,'" said his 15-year-old daughter Dezalina Dominguez. "He would never do this, he has a big heart and he loves children.''
