DUQUESNE, Pa. -- Allegheny County police said they've found a sport utility vehicle stolen during a fatal carjacking in Duquesne.
Police said shortly before noon Wednesday that a silver Mercury Mountaineer stolen during the incident has been found. They did not immediately say how or where the incident occurred. Channel 11 News cameras were there as the SUV was brought into police headquarters.
Police are searching for as many as eight men involved in the incident in the pre-dawn hours Wednesday near an after-hours club along South Fifth Street.
Police said the men opened fire on two people in a sport utility vehicle. Police said Randy Lee Flowers, 25, of McKeesport, was shot and killed. The other victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was shot in the leg and is being treated at a Pittsburgh hospital.
“We're asking for the public's help with anybody who saw anything or heard anything around the Resse's Supper Club last night around 12 a.m. and 12:30 a.m.,” said Sgt. Andy Schurman of the Allegheny County Police. “Apparently this was an attempted robbery in which these two victims were shot and their vehicle was stolen.”
Investigators said dozens of shots were fired. They found 28 shell casings at the scene.
